Helias_Tancred
Does anyone view that unit as a near auto-include in your lists if you run primaris Intercessors, hellblasters, or aggressors in your Blood Angel list? I'm curious on your opinion how valuable this guy is? Thanks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363851-primaris-ancient/ Share on other sites
Panzer
If you run a Primaris only list, then yes he's an auto-include together with Standard of Sacrifice. If you run a mixed list or one without Primaris just take the Sanguinary Ancient instead. Majkhel
From my experience, an Ancient of any type is an auto-include. In terms of choosing a specific type, I usually take a firstborn marine Company Ancient with JP to babysit shooty units or a Sanguinary Ancient, to babysit CC units. Primaris Ancient being an equivalent of a Company Ancient brings less value than a firstborn marine Ancient because of:1. no JP option2. increased points cost - I do not really need his additional wound and attack, especially since he cannot take any proper CC weapon, which leads me to...3. no weapon options apart from Bolt RifleThe points-value comparison is especially painful for the Primaris Ancient when compared to Sanguinary Ancient, who (for 6pts less) gets a JP, CC weapon (sword/Fist for no cost increase or an axe for 1 point more), Angelus Boltgun (shorter range, but he is more mobile with JP), same number of wounds and attacks, better save and some additional rules (HoA) and can take a fancy Death Mask to top it off. That's before we start using Stratagems. In short - just like Panzer said above ;) Karhedron, SnorriSnorrison, Helias_Tancred and 1 other 4 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363851-primaris-ancient/#findComment-5520734 Share on other sites
