The Citadel ones are actually very good in terms of leaving a clean cut and not distorting the surrounding plastic (can't comment on durability).  I use the Xuron 2175ET for de-spruing models, and Xuron 2175 (non-ET) for harder things like terrain or cutting up sprues - they are very sharp and perform about the same as the Citadel ones in terms of cleanliness of cut, but have nice comfy handles (and are cheaper).  The Tamiya 74035's are supposed to be very good, but I've never used them.

I have a $5 green handled set from Walmart in the sewing aisle and a pair of name brand clippers that were like $14 from Michaels. To me they’re virtually identical while the very expensive GW ones with the reddish brown metal handle broke after a couple of weeks. I feel like so long as the cutting face is flat you can go pretty cheap.

I use the yellow cheap Army Painters to remove from sprue and the blue God Hands 5.0 to remove the leftover sprue nub. You still need to scrape or file after using God Hands, so I don't think they're necessarily worth the money if you're on a budget and they certainly aren't flush enough to snip and paint without any further cleanup or sanding. The single blade is also very fragile.

If you want something higher quality than the standard basic clipper such as Army Painter, I'd recommend Tamiya. There should be a more expensive model that's around $25 that has a black head and black grips. Otherwise just keep buying basic clippers like Army Painter or the plain metal-colored Tamiya clippers with black grips and use a hobby knife to remove the sprue nub. That would be the most cost effective option. The Citadel clipper works but it's not too much better than the cheaper clippers other than having a more bespoke construction and shearing blades which prevent pieces from flying away. It doesn't cut as flush as the God Hands in case you were wondering why the Citadel one costs so much.

Holy hand grenade of Antioch I just looked these up and you can seriously buy $65 clippers?!?

They used to sell for over $100 when supply was limited and they were only able to be purchased from sellers who could get them straight from Japan.
