Axineton
Has any frater ever used these? Was wondering if they’d be any good for adding rust and oil effects to a chaos knight? Pics for peeps who have no clue what I’m talking about. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363881-ammo-mig-oilbrushers/ Share on other sites
Imren
I don't own them, but I have tried them. I find that the only benefit of them is that you don't need to mix up your rust washes yourself with regular oilpaint and odourless white spirit. they made it for you and price it accordingly. In your situation, I'd just buy the regular oilpaints and some odourless spirit (which you'll need anyways for cleaning/neating up), you'll get more than three tubes of oilpaint for the price of those three pens. There is hours and hours of fotoage and tutorials for oil paint pin washing on youtube. Here are some examples (the second is really good for general oil paint use on models): Axineton 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363881-ammo-mig-oilbrushers/#findComment-5521567 Share on other sites

Lovecraft0110
Has any frater ever used these? Was wondering if they’d be any good for adding rust and oil effects to a chaos knight? Pics for peeps who have no clue what I’m talking about. Hi Axineton, I have 6 of these, which I use regularly, alongside my Abteilung oil paints and a ton of different enamels from both AK and MIG. The oilbrushers are essentially pre-thinned oils in a convenient package. They're more suited to the oil dots technique than to pin washes, as that would entail further thinning. Even then, oilbrushers will make less of a mess, and you will avoid wasting a ton of product, which always happens to be with the oils that come in tubes. I hope this helps, Lovecraft0110 Axineton 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/363881-ammo-mig-oilbrushers/#findComment-5522466 Share on other sites

Marshal Vespasian
I have one in a brwon colour from an asset drop shipment a while back the suggested to use it to put on rust dots on a vehicle. But I have ak crusted rust for that which brings texture with it. Or nurgles rot if I want it in brown. However. I saw OPN use the oil brushers for very extreme highlights on his Leviathan Dread, which looks like a very cool technique.
