Dear members of the pca subforum,

Does anyone know of a paint color (not limited to just gw) that matches the martian iron earth/iron crust once dry? I have a forgeworld ork warboss that comes with a presculpted base (which is not flat and wouldnt lend itself to texture paint well imho) and want to match the color as close as possible to the rest of the boyz as it were--when the time comes to paint it for the 12 months of hobby event that is.

Thanks for reading, and for any help in the matter!

Deathclaw Brown might be the closest, as noted here. Doombull Brown is another but I think it's a bit too dark by comparison.

That website is incredible, thank you for linking that im going to use that as a resource from now on for sure-- and thank you for the quick reply as well.

The craters are sanded. I painted the whole base with Tuskgor Fur befor i covered the area between the craters with martian iron earth. It´s a minimal misfit between MIE and the Tuskgor Fur. But if you dry brush the transition area slightly with Jokaero Orange it´s absolutly fine.

Not bad at all. I was going to recommend the app PaintRack since it seems to be pretty good at colour matching across different paint ranges. The link provided by WarriorFish seems to be more comprehensive but PaintRack is geared more towards our kind of hobby.

Check out Scale75 Kalahari orange, that one is very close (if not match) to Martian iron earth/crust. I use it on my tanks as dust/mud around the tracks to match the rest of the army that is based with martian iron earth and crust.

Also Vallejo amaranth red is close match. Perhaps that one is a wee bit more probable to find in your FLGS to physically compare to before buying.

I'm another one for Scale75 Kalahari orange. I had a similar issue and found this to be near as I could get. Especially if you use a weathering powder. Based all my DA dreadnoughts with it. You can find them in the link in my sig.
