Legion Arquitor Bombard - heavy bolters or autocannons?

I’m a complete AoD newbie, to the point where I didn’t even play 7th Ed 40k. So my knowledge of what is good and what is not is very limited...

 

I’m in the middle of building the aforementioned tank for my Dark Angels. I’m not hugely keen on the idea of magnetising, so I’m making a one-time choice on the sponson weapons. What should I go for - heavy bolters or autocannons?

 

To help with the decision, my army will also be including 2 Sabre tanks, which do have magnetised weapons and so can perform a multiple of different roles.

Heavy bolters. Given that the spicula system is an ordnance weapon the sponsons can only snap-shoot, so they're far more useful as ablative 'weapon destroyed' results than as actual guns.

 

In my very limited experience, the Bombard is very good and can achieve ridiculous results with only a single shot. Bargain for 140pts.

Thanks Scammel - hasn’t appreciated they would only be firing on snapshot only, so it makes sense to not spend the 10pts to get the autocannons!

Ablative weapon destroyed results are discussed very little when it comes to deciding on sponson weapons. With the Venator you always hear the usual go naked. If you pay for the tank, pay for the Heavy Bolter I‘d say. Even if a weapon destroy role goes against you, the tank still is a huge annoyance blocking, ramming and mowing down marines here and there.

Heavy Bolters for sure I think. Like others have said, you’ll end up just losing them to Weapon Destroyed anyway. XD
