So with the rumours of 9th edition circulating and people saying that data sheets in codexes and supplements are to remain valid and the only changes will be minor gameplay tweaks, my question to everyone is: Would you buy a condensed book that contained all the up to date data sheets, stratagems and rules for playing your army? I.e a book that condenses your codex, Vigilus, psychic awakening and any relevant FAQs/errata?

Personally I would snap at the chance to buy one, but I wouldn't be happy because I've already invested in the separate books, but one condensed book would make travelling so much easier.

I like that the digital versions update with the faq's and point costs from chapter approved. I refuse to pay for chapter approved. I have a tablet I take with me that has them all. So for me it would have to be a NEW codex for my faction, not a condensed reprint. If it redoes chaos traits and makes them army wide then I would.

I wonder how many people use physical copies vs digital. Digital is just so handy to have on your phone too, I tool around and check stuff when it's slow at work. Or troll around this website haha.

No I wouldn’t. I was already pretty hacked off that they release V2 of the CSM dex to be honest. And the majority of people know how I feel about FAQ’s and errata etc. X)

So no...I’d be utterly uninterested I’m afraid. I’ll just stick with my current Codex and rulebook. If a new rulebook arrives I’ll buy it.

There's what, 13 relevant pages (for me anyway) in Faith and Fury?, with the rest being dedicated to Filthy heretics instead. So yeah, I'd take a condensed pamphlet, easy.

They wouldn’t condense the psychic awakening stuff into one book this soon after releasing it all but even if they did, I don’t believe in paying money for reprints of stuff I already own. Even though it would condense stuff a lot. I just feel like it’s a lazy way to milk more money out of people so I’d vote with my wallet.

I’d want any new book to have substantial extra stuff in it if I were to buy it, and that doesn’t include extra options for open play that will never ever be used.

All valid points. It was just a question I thought I'd put out to the BnC community as I am not a fan of carrying around 3 books and a lot of print outs. I do like the mobile/tablet versions but they slow down my iPad a lot and it can be quite frustrating when it takes ages to find something. But I suppose that could be due to my iPad being about 10 years old :biggrin.:

The books have become the bane of the game for me. I get that regular rules updates are a good thing, having to buy several books to get them all knowing they are going to be replaced/updated again at some point soon is extremely off putting.

I'd personally much rather they did a data sheet system or just made the rules free on their website. They could even replace codex entries with a card system to be honest, most of the time I have no idea what is where with the books.

We all asked for regular updates, remember?

People were even demanding big faqs every 3 months instead of 6. I thought that would be getting silly.

Also you don't NEED any books outside of the codex and vote rules. You only require the rest if you chose to stay updated with the latest balance adjustments or powerful combos.

Tbh with the horror show that was playing Heresy at one point book wise (Before the red books saved our literal spines)  for example i think i had 2-3 black books, the 40k rules and apocalypse for one event? Ive gotten into the habit just grabbing relevant bits of books that i need a little from in a little folder or something rather than carting the whole thing around. That or battlescribe, though thats not 100% accurate and its caught me short before.

I suspect as they keep releasing codexes going forward that stuff will be wrapped in then?
