With the release of our rules update it seems we've had a craving and cause for some new discussions relating to our units. Every week we'll feature a new unit available to the 6th with the purpose of discussing the tactics, use, and synergies around them. The Space Wolves are also about legends, sagas and great deeds as well so each week will also kick off or feature a showcase for you bloodclaws and longfangs alike to show off your units and inspire your battle brothers. These discussions will be archived to allow for reference by the new and old as well!

Note, this isn't to lament any nerfs, etc, from previous editions; the rules are as they are so try to unlock its potential for those who wish to use them all the same. Similarly, this thread is only for using the option being discussed; it matters not if you feel something is a better choice as such comments aren't constructive to the topic and shall be removed.

- Sicarans -

How do Space Wolves best use Sicarans?

  • Turret load out?
  • Which strategems are worth throwing out?
  • Any solid unit combos?

What say you fearless Warriors of the Rout? And please post your finished Sicarans here!

I personally love these guys. I feel like the Sicaran Battle Tank variant is such a wonderful compliment to our use of Keen Senses against anything with a shooting debuff. It allows you to bait stuff like lightning fast reflexes so well. The BT variant is cheap enough and just the right amount of threat that it can really do damage but not so much its getting focussed right away. Coupled with jow fast the thing is I find it to be a really fun to use and versatile tank.

I have the venator as well but im sad to say it hasn't seen play yet since i'm still building it. I think it may be a friendly game only type of deal unless you know youre going up against another shooting based superheavy and have enough to distract from it getting shot off the board immediately. At the least the 14 wounds help.

All in all i love the speed and decent shooting these give and take one whenever i can.

I really like it as a straight Predator upgrade.  For ~40 points you get 3W, better movement, a Heavy Bolter, and the autocannon with 8 shots, no movement penalty because Assault, anti-Fly and potentially higher AP.  If only it didn't cost for much $$$.  And if the rest of the Wolves Army wasn't so expensive.  215 points is still a lot.  Maybe with just the Top Gun and no sponsons, it will be seen more.

Just had a look at the battle-tank variant. I think that with just the Twin accelerator autocannon and a max out on heavy bolters you have a very good anti-infantry tank. The heavy bolters will benefit from devastator doctrine while the accelerator auto cannon benefits from the tactical doctrine. This allows the doctrines we just received to be utilised fully which is something that shouldn't be passed on IMO

For looks alone it's worth taking. I'm finishing off some essentials on my current armies then delving into Forgeworld and this bad boy is at the top of my list. Think it fits my Wolves better than Fists for reasons mentioned above (and I have a LOT of good anti-infantry firepower in that list already).

There are certain models that are simply too sexy to not have, and this is one of them.

It may also get some love with GW taking the Forgeworld rules in house. The opposite may be true as well I suppose...

After looking into them, a Sicaran is my next buy for my wolves. But I am waiting for the forge world data sheet update before I press buy! knowing my luck I'll buy one and they will double in points :teehee:

Yes! Thats a very good call out! Hopefully we hear something sooner than later.
