The subject is raised in Plague Wars - the Primaris are visibly confused that there aren't any amongst the Grey Knights.

That's really all there is to say on the subject. Keep in mind that the Grey Knights are an entirely different development from Cawl's Primaris project - it's unlikely he ever had the opportunity to work with the children of Titan.

Not initially, but it's been a couple hundred years in the in-game timeline since Cawl and Guilliman learned about the Grey Knights, and saw the need to get them the same improved Marine version that they had just given the rest of the Imperium's Chapters.

An alternative scenario is that GK Primaris was a compartmentalized project all along. There may be rows of Grey Knight popsicles  in a  secret vault on Titan waiting to be thawed. They may just be waiting for a nod from the GW cabal:dry.::biggrin.: ..... I mean the Supreme Grand Master of the Grey Knights.

You can bet that there will be some retconning when the GK's get the Primaris treatment in five or ten years.

With all the daemon infestation the Primaris have no doubt (at least in my simple mind) fought side by side with the Grey Knights. Have they fought with Primaris Grey Knights?...… maaaybe. We'll find out in about five or ten years:wink:

The big wrench in the gears is how they’re going to handle Kaldor Draigo. All of the other named special characters that they don’t want to kill off will go across the Primaris Rubicon, but they can’t bloody well do that with Draigo, who usually resides in the Warp.

Never underestimate the ability of GW to manipulate the warp...… or anything and everything:eek:

Draigo will either die and GW release one of the other grandmasters, primaris'ized

Orrrr draigo stops having a midlife crisis, stops going on warp dust binges in the slaaneshy red light districts, and just realises that he can just stroll out of the warps front door at the eye itself.

So as one of the few that understand Primaris need in GK but don’t want them in gk army, I 100% agree on this statement

It was always silly Mat Ward fluff anyway.

OK as I seem to be one that sees no point in having them please explain the need for Primaris GK.

Its to keep us alive as a faction basically.

Although they've made primaris different from regular Marines fluff wise. They're ultimately just "true scale" Marines (taller than a guard), with a stat line that better fits what Marines 'should' have in game (more wounds that a guard).

They'll never say this officially obviously. And having them different from regular Marines helps them actually sell the models in the first place, otherwise lots of people would just stick to using their old Marines and call them new Marines.

So if we don't get primaris, we'll eventually cease to get new models/support and will end up non existent just how our original rogue trader era models did.

And IF we did still get rules support but no primaris, we'll likely fall even further behind in power than we already do compared to primaris armies.

OK as I seem to be one that sees no point in having them please explain the need for Primaris GK.

Certainly.  Just to expound a bit on what Captain Coolpants just said.  When we talk about Primaris Grey Knights, we should be clear that none of us are looking for Intercessor squads, with their Bolt Rifles, or Hellblaster squads with their Plasma Rifles, etc.  We aren't looking for any of the current Primaris Units, as none of those would be an appropriate fit for Grey Knights.  Those work fine for the other 999 Chapters, because they mirror the existing units, in many ways, of the Astartes.

When we call for Primaris Grey Knights, we are looking for the actual Marines, not the Units.  So, we're looking for models with the appropriate stature (e.g. Truescale) that the new models have, as well as the improved characteristics (extra Wound and extra Attack) over their Firstborn counterparts.

As CC also already mentioned, if we don't get these improvements for our models at some point, Grey Knights are pretty likely to die off as a faction.

Just think about brand-new players 10 years from now.  When they're first exposed to the hobby, and they start looking at what faction they want to pick up for themselves, they're going to wonder what's wrong with those Grey Knights - why are the so much smaller than all of these other Space Marines?  Why are they so much weaker, too?

They just need to do it right, though.  We need to keep our same iconic Armour and Weaponry.  I truly think that's why we didn't get access to Primaris in these initial waves, too.  The designers also saw that we need to keep our iconic and unique features, and are simply waiting to get all of the units out that apply to the 999 other Chapters before turning their attention to meet the needs of a single Chapter.

If you are referencing to the Silver Knight in Slaaneshi's palace, I believe there was another more likely candidate, the name of which eludes me at the moment. Check the edit, when I remember it. I think Voldus is the most likely person to actually get the head honcho job. I could see Stern being primaris-fied, maybe even the leader of the GK after Draigo dies. Either way, I don't see Draigo living for long.

@Casb1965, Pretty much what Valerian and CC said. Pretty sure I mentioned what both of them said previously in another thread, but I guess that will do...

We seem to be drifting towards a general discussion of the introduction of Primaris GK's to the game. The original intent was speculation on Primaris reaction to the Grey Knights. Let's get back to that.......and yes, I know, I'm guilty of it too:blush.: :whistling:
