Grey40k
Dear armchair generals, Here is my current list plan for my return to the hobby. I started with a few restrictions, based on personal taste: No marines, whatsoever. Custodes & sisters. Must have some "normal" humans (Imperial militia or Solar Auxilia). I am looking for something not entirely outclassed (I want to put up a decent fight), so I may tweak based on any tips you might have. Thanks in advance! I might create several versions of the army (as I will have spare models for that), but the current one is: GRAN TOTAL: 3000pts Crusade - Talons of the Emperor [2260pts] --- HQ --- [475pts] Constantin Valdor [325pts]Jenetia Krole [150pts] --- Elites --- [680pts]Legio Custodes Aquilon Terminator Squad (5x, bolter and fist) [405pts]Legio Custodes Contemptor-Achillus Dreadnought (spear) [275pts] ---Troops ---[290pts]2 x Sisters of Silence Vigilator Cadre (10 x squad)[145pts] ---Fast Attack--- [415pts]Legio Custodes Venatari Squad (5x with meltabombs and spears)[415pts] ---Heavy Support--- [360pts]Legio Custodes Telemon Heavy Dreadnought (arachnus and caestus)[360pts] Allied Detachment (Imperialis Militia and Cults Army List) [576pts] Provenances: Survivors of the dark age + 2x advanced weapons [115pts] ---HQ ---[55pts]Force Commander (caparace armor)[55pts] ---Troops ---[260pts]2x Grenadier Squad, Imperialis Militia (lasrifles, vexilla, 18x squad)[130pts] ---Heavy Support ---[261pts] 3x Artillery Carriage Team (8 crewman per gun)[87pts] ---Defence--- Emplacement [40pts] Used with the artillery. The idea here is: Grenadiers / hold objectives advance with sisters (grenadiers fire and sisters are decent CC support). Artillery hides behind LoS and blasts until it gets taken out. Dreadnaughts + characters provide support to the infantry blobs. Terminators and venatari are the reserve. My concerns are: Footslogging list, might take forever to get to objectives and once committed there isn't a way back. Not enough anti tank. Artillery might get taken out fast. I'll keep updating this threat with alternatives to this list, and I would appreciate feedback. Cypher 64
I like your core idea, although it doesn’t feel like your ‘delivering’ any units or carrying out a set strategy. As you’ve highlighted, you’ll just be foot slog a mass amount of heavy and light infantry across the board. It could work but you might find the list a little uninspiring to play. If you are buying the models because you love them, then by all means go with this set up. I’d consider grabbing your vigilators a transport each. They are highly effective when coupled with infiltrate. You could also drop your grenadiers to 10 man squads and place them in transports, possibly even Arvus lighters for mobility and late game objective drops. By adding skimmer/flyer transports, your list will become significantly more mobile and diverse. The custodes will hold your core together while the light units flank and grab VP’s. Overall, I like your non marine approach. Interesting backbone to this army. Grey40k
I appreciate the comments. After discussing the list with other players, it seems that the consensus is that it isn’t quite there yet.fortunately, while a core is there I have room to alter it while working on done of the central models that I already have. For example, while IAlready have the Kriegers, I was open to the inclusion of an auxilia detachment. I bought a command squad since I love the models. I also liked the idea of using mechanicum bots as haywire grenade platforms with a magus like sculpt, impart because I also love the sculpts available to represent that on forgeworld. All that to say that I see this List and tread more like an in progress than a closed no feedback needed thing. The core idea remains, but I like the prospect of painting variations of it. For example, adding a raptor cadre with a transport for Jenetia. And more of the needed anti air options, from my own flyers to replacing some of the ground forces for more fire support. If anyone is willing to give me feedback, I’ll be very happy to talk about it. I ll also show my progress on the modeling.
