BitsHammer
So thanks to GW sitting on some old kits Helbrecht, Grimaldus and the Emperor's Champion all came in with 25mm bases. What's the consensus for these models? 32mm like all other Space Marines, or 40mm like GW seems to be giving character Marines these days? EDIT: And what about the servitors? Gendo
I based them with what they came in, I don't think opponents will argue about the size if it's the original kit. Could go bigger but for gaming purposes I wouldn't. Edit: Not sure you use them but keeping Neophytes on small bases it's quite useful in CC. Marshal Reinhard
The product descriptions of all of these kits state they're supplied with 25mm bases on their site... not sure any of these kits have a 32 mm base variant. I don't think any Classic marine characters (Save for terminators, obviously) use 40 mm bases. It's something that was started with Primaris. I'd put the marines on 32 mm bases, cuz the tiny bases would bother me when everyone else is on 32+. Servitors can keep the 25s though. When I painted them few years back I either didn't know or it wasn't an issue, personally I'm not going to redo painted bases unless the models become illegal. With my old classic crusade, I ended up rebasing over 100 marines to the new 32mm size, just because it bothered me that they were two different sizes. Plus it had also always bothered me that marines barely fit onto 25mm bases without constantly having their toes poking out. Buit I realize I'm bit ocd about that. They surely look better on the larger ones but if it's only HQs that some people not even field I'm not bothered and Neophytes are smaller models. Hymnblade
I've been putting non-Primaris HQs on 32mm bases. Servitors on 25mm for sure. Dracos
If you want to feel current I'd go with the same size base as the "new" Thunder Hammer Chaos Lord from the Blackstone Fortress kits. Would seem like a good precedent for any argument you might get at a tournament. Medjugorje
would look very strange if the leader has a smaller base then his warriors. fenhold
Most of my terminators are still on the 25mm bases they came with. If i still played in game stores, I'm sure many people would have a problem. I would suggest basing your models similar to the current standard if you play in public. If not, do what pleases you, they're your models. Medjugorje
I dont have a problem with except i play against orks because they benefit too much from smaller bases.
