Canoness loadout question

The model arrived befor the Codex (which seems to be stuck somewhere on the way... it will probably arrive as soon as the 9thE Codex is released) and I'm at a loss as to how to assemble my non-battlebox Canoness.

 

Is it legal to give her a Power Sword and Plasma Pistol WITHOUT the Rod of Office?

If you're going the power sword route I would suggest a blessed blade, just 5 more points for some actual melee punch!

Yeah, if you're not using the Rod of Office, you may as well go for the Blessed Blade, in my opinion.

You should have received the Datasheet with the Canoness, which I can confirm echoes the Codex one.

 

So you can confirm it's legal because of the Errata, which turned the first Wargear option into "This model can be equipped with 1 plasma pistol, 1 power sword and 1 rod of offce instead of 1 bolt pistol and 1 chainsword." so unlike what it was before you no longer HAVE to buy the Rod if you get the specific weapon options.

 

Crucially, that Errata also zapped the option of bringing a free basic Boltgun as the first wargear option was the only way to pick one up, so don't bring one of those.

Hi all, sorry to revive this thread, but I just picked up a Canoness and I'm wrapping my head around the options.

• Only option for boltgun is with power sword AND rod of office; Cannot have a boltgun and chainsword, nor boltgun and blessed blade, nor boltgun and brazier of holy fire or null rod
• Only options for rod of office is either the above boltgun+power sword+rod OR the FAQ'd plasma pistol+power sword+rod of office
• Cannot have power sword/blessed blade AND either brazier of holy fire or null rod: must have a chainsword in order to take the brazier/null

Legal loadouts:

• Chainsword + anything except boltgun
• Blessed blade + inferno/plasma pistol
• Blessed blade + condemnor boltgun
• Power sword + inferno/plasma pistol
• Power sword + condemner boltgun
• Brazier of Holy Fire + chainsword + inferno/plasma pistol
• Brazier of Holy Fire + chainsword + condemnor boltgun
• Null Rod + chainsword + inferno/plasma pistol
• Null Rod + chainsword + condemner boltgun
• Rod of Office + boltgun + power sword
• Rod Office + plasma pistol + power sword

Also....there is not actually any bit for the Rod of Office, correct?

Single model armed with: bolt pistol, chainsword, frag grenades, krak grenades.

• This model may replace its bolt pistol with a boltgun, but if it does so, it must take a power sword and rod of office and may not take a brazier of holy fire or null rod or any other option.
• This model may replace its bolt pistol with a condemnor boltgun or 1 item from the Pistols list.
• This model can replace its chainsword with a power sword or blessed blade, but if it does so, it may not take a brazier of holy fire or null rod

 

My personal interest is in the following three builds:

Hidden Content

• Buffer: Rod of Office, which then must come with boltgun and power sword
• Beatstick: Blessed Blade/Blade of Admonition + any pistol option, but no additional rod/brazier
• Witch-hunter: Brazier of Holy Fire (Brazier of the Eternal Flame OR Light of St. Agnatha) + Condemnor Boltgun (Annunciation of the Creed) + mandatory chainsword

The Rod of Office is the thing the limited box set canoness carries.

And note that the FAQ removes the boltgun/power sword/rod option, only plasma pistol/power sword and rod is correct.
