In my opinion the bladeguard aesthetic just doesn't suit some chapters. It looks great on BT and IF and I think it could be really made to work for DA. Ravenguard colour scheme is good but it doesn't really fit lore wise and I just don't dig them as ultramarines. Too much of a departure from how the ultras have been portrayed recently. I actually think they would make quite sweet SW models with a bare head, an alternative shield and maybe an axe.

Yeah those bladeguards dont really make sense or look good on most chapters. The only one that make sense are BT, DA, and IF. And BT and DA are the best looking by far. I feel the other chapters will struggle to make them work, if at all.

 

UM can probably use them well given they have that whole honor guard thing going.

 

The SW could work if you replace the sword with a frosty axe and maybe a round shield instead. And lore wise IF like shields and all that but gameplay they wont amount to much for the overall tactics.

Still, with enough changes (heads, shields, possibly the weapons) even SW would fit, so I'm sure withe right bits this could be the case with the rest

i love this kind of storm shields - i dont have to switch them. Just Space Wolves have to do so I think.

Worn leather look is a nice alternative.

Troll skin or so would work too and can be easily added with greenstuff.

 

Exchange the tilt shield for one of the SW medals from the WG Termi or Wulfen Set.

Or the SW tilt shield from the WG Termi Set - Yes, we have those.

 

Why are the Shields not SW appropriate?

Add one of the leather bands with rune stones or wolf teeth from the upgrade setd or regular kits for small hints of flavour. (Or make them yourself with Greenstuff)

 

You could even add bits from the Stormfang/Stormwolf Set, if you want to let them carry a full trophy rack on the shield.

If they did a Gokstad shield and axe combo I'd want to rebuild a Primaris version of my very first 40k army back in 2e. :)
