Klod
So I'm working on my Stormraven, and I'm thinking if I should paint the cockpit or not. I'd rather have it clear, but the thing that I'm concerned about is that clear plastic will get dusty from the inside after a while. Sure the thing is sealed, but I feel like small dust particles will still get through with enough time. What is your experience with clear windows? WarriorFish
No problem with mine, even many years later. Dust will follow gravity so I think the chances of the cockpit area getting dusty are as close to zero as possible once it is sealed with the canopy. pawl
If you're concerned about being able to clean it could you magnetise the canopy? That would allow you to remove it easily enough. =] Firedrake Cordova 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/364660-stormraven-clear-plastic-catching-dust/#findComment-5546458 Share on other sites
Cleon
Personally I agree with pawl, though for different reasons. If you leave the upper panel that the window sits in unglued, it sort of clicks back in place, locking the nose mount weapons in and making them much easier to swap (you can magnetise if you want the extra grip, but I've never needed it). Fajita Fan
I keep thinking that thinned green or orange contrast paint underneath a clear canopy before gluing or magnetizing would look cool, also dust wouldn't be as noticeable. I'm getting ready to paint the glass on AI scale planes which are not clear but I need figure out how to make them look either clear or colored. Klod
Thanks everyone for the responses, I guess its gona be fine. I might try that if I find a clear plastic piece that I don't need. Wouldn't want to ruin the only one that I have. Fajita Fan
This is gray plastic primed white and 1/4 the size of your but that’s aerthermatic blue, has a little green tint. Any clear acrylic plastic should let you test the look.
