++ The Royal Awakening: A Necron Painting Event ++

Recommended Posts

Fellow Phaerons, Overlords, Crypteks, and all other Dynastic representatives. The time has come! The Silent King is returned and begun works intended to bring about the rise of the Necron in a galaxy full of upstart races vying for whatever pathetic parodies of dominance they can muster. They stand no chance against the united forces of the Triarch! We will sweep them away like the dust of aeons past and reclaim what is rightfully ours.

...but first we need painted armies!! :biggrin.:

Coinciding with the release of the Indomitus set we will be running a painting event for the Necron forum. It will start on the 25th with two weeks of build time where frater can make their initial vows and get ready, this also hopefully affords people time to get their hands on some new models if those are what they wish to include ("if", right ). Then, starting August 8th and running for three months to October 8th, those wishing to be involved can make their vows of models no further along than primed their initial colour and post their completions in a separate thread. I know it may seem like a long time but let's face it: us Necrons are a sleepy bunch and can be slow to get moving. I also quite hope that the length encompasses another wave (or two..??) after the initial release so that we can all have some extra motivation to get cracking with the brush.

Badges will be presented for completions under the following categories:

Participation and completion of a vow -- Royal Warden

1k points completed -- Lord

1.5k points completed -- Overlord

2k+ points completed -- Phaeron

For now everything else is "in the works" and will be officially presented on the 25th when Indomitus is released. If you have any questions or comments by all means post up.

Until then stock up on some paints and place some preorders!

My group is starting a Crusade series as soon as we have the books (and can safely play) and it will be painted models only so I may need to start painting before the start day. But I'll definitely be participating

I (hopefully) have an Indomitus box secured, as well as some other stuff lying around (imms, dmarks, a barge etc) that I was saving for ETL, but as I've little hope that ETL is happening this year, I suspect I'll be jumping in!

Plus Szeras if I can find the time and funds to get him, and do him justice as a converted, upgraded chief cryptek of the Naculan.

Glorious to see so many Dynasties answer the call! Personally I have to postpone any new model purchases for the time being thanks to a windshield replacement but I still have plenty from my Talrynian Dynasty to work on for the glory of the Silent King.

Since we're still ahead of the final announcement for this I'm open to input from you all in the interest of making it as inclusive as possible. For example, the two week build/shipping time could be one week if you're all good to go and ready to get painting already. Shipping may not be an issue and the models may be fairly fast to build and there will still be three months afterward for the slow movers (read as: me ) to get things built and painted.

I've got Indomitus coming locally then a second set of crons plus immortals (Deathmarks ;) ), lychguard and a Spyder coming from the UK. First wave will needless to say be Indomitus. However, I hope that the Cron dex, lokhusts, Doomstalkers and monoliths drop before I'm back at work in September...

Don't have great luck with these challenges but the Thokt will muster their hosts while the gales howling across the sparkling void speak of the Tsarakura hurling their most zealous warriors into the galaxy. Realised the Forgebane and Start Collecting! stuff have been sitting unassembled and unpainted since 2018! Some might remember an old log I had in this subforum for my Thokt, which didn't go anywhere sadly.

For the two weeks of build time, can I get started painting then? August 8th onwards I'm going to be facing lots of academic work, so might not have enough time to paint.

guess I will end up trying to join you guys on this.  While I have my fists that I need to work on, I am going to be doing a much simpler table top paint scheme for necrons.  Love the look of the new models, and will be starting up with Indomitus half, but I already have five immortals and Szeras waiting and primed.  Was debating to go ahead and work on them or my infinity stuff, so with this event I will hold on my necrons till the 8th of august, and work on my infinity samurai till then.    I need the extra motivation to stay focused right now, as its been hard to paint anything during this pandemic with zero events and very little gaming if any.  So this can help motivate me.  Thanks guys.

More Dynasties! The Necrontyr may have been forgotten by a galaxy left untended but our might shall be known again!

Since I'm seeing at least a couple inquiries as to completions in the build time I'm working on a solution that will allow early completions without changing the timeline.

If you’re feeling basic, you can always do leadbelcher—> nuln oil —> green to paint him, or you could do a Szarekhan dynasty scheme, as GW has done on the box.

Alternatively, you can do lovecrons (pink, white, and red), stonecrons, icecrons, or any variety of colors you can think of.
