Seizeman
Striking scorpion has revealed all new points costs (min 45): =][= REDACTED =][= Our units have not increased in costs significantly, here's the increment for our most relevant units: GMNDK (psilencer, psycannon, sword): 9,8% BC: 4,4% Librarian: 5% Voldus: 4,5% Draigo: 5,5% Strike squads (purifiers, purgation); 17% Terminators: 8,6% Paladins: 11% Apothecary: 5,2% Incinerators: 79% Psilencers: 25% Psycannons: 43% Hammers: 15% Falchions: now cost 2 points, other weapons cost 0, so A LOT With this information, our unit choices really don't change too much, except special weapons and falchions are even less efficient than they were before, and strike squads are less desirable compared to our elites and HQs, but still better than terminators. If I make a list similar to my 8th edition one, that would be: Draigo, BC, Librarianx2, Paladins (10) x2, apothecary, Strike squad (5) x4 for a total of 1988 points. Seeing as strike squads are less efficient than they were before and we only need 3 to fill the requiresd battalion, you could consider playing only 3 of them so we have room for some hammers or extra models on the other 3 strike squads. We could also remove the apothecary and have one less power available (we can play without ethereal manipulation), but he's very efficient and the heal is very good. Since we also have less smites, maybe the BC is not worth anymore, but it will largely depend on whether we can cast unlimited smites with the same unit and the status of draigo as a "supreme commander", since we have one to many HQ for a battalion, as it is, and that would mean losing two CP and the obligation of taking the 4th strike squad. Captain Coolpants
17% increase in strikes!? So yeah, they've just made even more efficient again to go with paladins... Also given us even less of a reason to ever use purifiers/purgation squads. Fun. Also anyone know why they would increase incinerators by so much? Also given us even less of a reason to ever use purifiers/purgation squads. Fun. Also anyone know why they would increase incinerators by so much? Do incinerators have the blast rule? Legit question. But it seems like 9th is going to be paladins + terminators it seems. Which I'm personally fine with, even though the price hike seems to be universal across all factions, not the GK ones. GW trying to force us to buy more models so that at the 2500 point range this all balances out. Corvus Fortis
Do incinerators have the blast rule No, flamers get nothing. There's hope, that flamers will receive some buffs in codexes or in Errata. But our special weapons got even worse. Psilencer is still OK, since you pay technically only 2 points for it. At least, we don't pay additional points for HQ's force weapons anymore. Valerian
Wow, the price increase for our 3 ranged special weapons is crazy. They aren’t that good. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365079-full-points-reveal/#findComment-5561692 Share on other sites

I have a feeling, they've fell victims of standartization once more. Especially, the incinerator. Funny enough, psilencer is still the best option. Captain Coolpants
Let's hope they increase flamer ranges lol Or at least give them overwatch rules or something! Otherwise they really aren't worth it at all. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365079-full-points-reveal/#findComment-5561737 Share on other sites
Corvus Fortis
I am afraid, if more changes were coming for flamers, they would mentioned that in the previews. I think, flamers needed more love than other weapons with random shots. Valerian
I’m reading from some sources that Falchions are 1 point each, 2 for the set (not 2/4). That’d make a lot more sense. It really does not matter. Two extra points over a halberd/stave is ridiculous enough already. GK are also 20 ppm with their basic load (Storm Bolter and Nemesis Sword/Halberd/Stave). right, with stormbolters, better stats, psyker, better melee weapons than a dedicated melee unit. The melee weapons should cost 5 points each like powerswords do. They are also way better. thats unbalanced. Corvus Fortis
If you've got into melee with a strike squad at least once, you should now, how mediocre they are. But, most times, you're simply not getting in melee. Strike squads are jacks of all trades, masters of none. At least, they are good example of how to design such units. Brother Lunkhead
=][= Now that the Core Rules have been officially released, I'm locking this thread and hiding some posts for review. I may unhide some, so long as they contain no actual intellectual property (IP) violations. Just to be clear, this is just routine administrative action. I don't consider any of these posts to be intentional IP or B&C rules violations. At the time of posting everything was still in the realm of rumor. However, now that the rules are officially out, that is no longer true. =][= Valerian 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365079-full-points-reveal/#findComment-5571691 Share on other sites
