xenomortis
Deathwatch starts at approx. 40:00. General increases across the board as stated in 9th. Biggest news revealed was that we get access to the Repulsor Executioner (didn't realise DW already had this!) Roland Durendal
I’m actually sort happy now I didn’t jump on the SB/SS Vet train back in 7th. Most of my Vet squads only have 1-2 SSs and no SBs. Hopefully this means the 1 Army I managed to bring with me to Germany is still viable Xisor 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365082-deathwatch-9th-edition-points/#findComment-5561682 Share on other sites
Mobius0288
With regards to storm bolters... can we move back to regular boltguns and having a few storm bolters instead of all of them being equipped? Combi-weapons are still looking solid, even plasma with the -1 to hit changes. I feel like there is SOME way to play vets, I'm just not seeing the whole picture yet. Some things I picked up on: Primaris look solid, so not a lot of worries there. Landraiders and Blackstars are looking good. Razorback spam also looks possible (Index days...). Chaplain Dreads are gone, but Mortis Contemptor Dreads are still present and looking good. Missile Launchers are surprisingly looking good, cost reduction. Infernus HB went back up but still not bad with the -1 to hit changes. I missed the Indomitus points so still looking on that front. MadEdric
Biggest thing I see from the faq is Vanguard Vets and Inceptors lose the ability for the squad to fall back and shoot, instead getting a useless ability that affects only themselves. I see no reason to add them to killteams any more, besides a tiny bit of movement shenanigans. At least bikes seem to have retained the fall back and charge ability. leth
20 to 24 points is in line with the overall increases across the board(about 20%). I think they are still pretty solid but opens up more options for kill team diversity(especially with the new wound allocation rules. I could see maybe dropping 2-3 stormbolters and working in more terminators and CC elements. I will 100% be adding a bike now as the ability to fallback and charge will be absolutely clutch with top of turn scoring. I am not good with vocal stuff sadly so I hope we get a visual points list soon. Mobius0288
Pretty sure posting all the points is against the forum rules, otherwise they'd be up already. Don't want to get the folks here in trouble. I'll also say that if you ever feel the need to naked vets, you might as well just take reivers... so thanks to vets increasing in cost, reivers are now have a place in order get bodies on the board. For better or worse. Heavy bolt pistol is 5?! Hopefully thats a misread otherwise those assault intercessors don't look as nice now. I'm pretty confident that's a mistake, whether its in the book or because he said it out loud. Boyadventurer
I wonder if Reivers do have some legs now. 5 with grav chutes (CS, no sergeant) are the same as 5 Indomitus assault intercessors, both as troops its just down to DS+terror troops+shock grenades vs an extra attack on the srg, plasma pistol, and -1AC chainswords. GrinNfool
Heavy bolt pistol is 5?! Hopefully thats a misread otherwise those assault intercessors don't look as nice now. Think that is incorrect as a leak of an image of the point pages has it at 0. Gotta remember the guy was going through line by line listing points for probably hours between all the factions, bound to make some errors. Otherwise on the subject of points increases, less than thrilled overall, though the coruvs is cheaper now and actually will hit on 3s so thats something positive. Frag and infernus being the same cost his still hilarious though. Vets being 17 vs ints at 20 is insulting though, vets should be 16 since normal marines at 15, a 2nd wound for 3 points is non sensicle, and SS/SB vet is 24 points which is pretty unreasonable now. Though that part doesn't affect me too much I generally didn't run my DW as SS/SB regiments. Overall I am not thrilled but more or less across the board everyone is feeling some point pain. The least I can say is compared to my DE, DW aren't looking bad. My poor DE got obliterated, think that army is back to bottom tier lol. angrom
I will probably still field my vet with storm shields but normal bolters with 5 bikes as the bikes didn't increase in points so much. Mobius0288
To be clear, I know Reivers are not troops and do not have objective secured. You still need to understand that bodies are bodies, and they are cheap. If that's all you got, its still a decent 2W model with mediocre firepower. If you got points, then by all means, bring more intercessors. CP seem fairly plentiful that you could even deep strike a few. Roland Durendal
So I did the quick math last night for my list I posted a few weeks back. Outside of a few considerations I’ll mention shortly, my list only went up about 100pts with the new rules, which isn’t too bad. Seeing as my list was initially only ~1670ish points, ending up around ~1780 is fine with me and leaves plenty of room to expand. All told I think this is a solid planning factor for everyone: expect your 8th edition list to go up ~100-150pts As for the considerations: - Still don’t know the cost of FW models so I assumed my Sicaran went up about ~10pts (after adding in the new costs for HBs) - Corvus: so the vase cost went up 15pts and the Blackstar Launcher is now 0, so I assume that the Launcher is now included in the Corvus base price YET, in 8th a Blackstar launcher (singular) was 15pts but the weapon loadout was for 2X Blackstar Launcher at 30pts so...does that mean we still have to pay 15pts to add the second launcher in 9th OR is it already included in the 15pt price increase? (Which would mean the Launcher loadout actually DROPPED 15pts From 8th to 9th) - As everyone’s mentioning, VV aren’t looking good to go in KTs so I’ll keep my as an independent squad - Need to buy terminators to add to KTs... ashc
Roland I would assume with a base cost of 0 2 X 0 = 0pts for both Blackstar launchers.
