So I have a sisters of battle side project that I'm starting, that is a companion to my Raven Guard Army. I have a whole Norse theme and I want to try and figure out what I can do to sisters of battle to make them feel a bit more Norse.

I have Celestine and her two Gemenae Superia. I planned on getting 3 boxes of seraphim to get started, and I'm probably not going to expand much beyond that, maybe a couple of squads of retributors and regular sisters and that's it.

The idea is that they're supposed to be heralds for my Successor Chapter. They're supposed to fill a few roles derived from Norse mythology, they assist in recruiting new astartes as "choosers of the slain" (Valkyrie) and they deliver punishment to the chapter's enemies (Hel's Ravens). They are to serve as escorts to the captains and function as a bodyguard of sorts.

I'm thinking that adding some fur trim around the pauldrons and scale mail skirt armor would go a long way to making their armor look more Norse, and their swords are fine as they are, but I have some space wolf bits, I could easily swap their swords. I'm trying not to do too much conversion, as I still want it to be recognizable that they were once Sisters of Battle (I have a whole story about how they came to be associated with my Successor Chapter).

I mean Russ is an Imperial saint, you dont need a backstory reason. I was torn between and order venerating Sanguinius or Dorn myself but i figure including a few wolfy parts and design elements would be cool and fluffy ;)

I'm doing a Norse themed Raven Guard Successor (playing of Odin's connection to Ravens). Unless Corax is a Saint, in which case that just makes my story even more believable.

Again It's a Raven Guard Successor (though I did use a number of space wolf bits for my vangaurd vets, like pelts on pauldrons, and chainswords, and bolt pistols).

But I did some fur trim on the pauldrons, and that went a long way to giving them the look I wanted.

A squad of Zephyrim would be thematic, as they're sisters that are following visions from the emperor, could lead into them following the visions to new recruits. I'd give all the jump packs and cherubim black wings, to tie them to the Raven theme.

I believe that all the loyal sons of the emperor have been canonized by the imperial church at this point, so a sect following the path of Corax the Liberator or some other aspect of him is definitely possible.

Part of wanting to use Seraphim was them being fast moving executioners. My Raven Guard Successors are strict adherents to Corax's teachings, "Justice without force is powerless, force without justice is Tyranny" and are fervent champions of humanity, and followers of the Imperial truth (they have living memory of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy, and these teachings were passed down the ages).

So the Idea for these sisters is that they would be a sect, now devoted to Corax the Deliverer and serve his sons (the 12th Chapter, the StormCrows) as their Valkyrja. I like the Idea of doing the seraphim's wings in black, as they're the deliverers of punishment (the heljar hrafnar, or Hel's Ravens, which are said to be a divine punishment) because they can take inferno pistols and hand flamers, while I'd do Celestine and her Gemenae's wings in white to be the classical Valkyrie image, as choosers of the slain.

Looking at Zephyrim is interesting though, especially since I'd be getting retributors and regular sisters as well. Oh, well they come out of the same box, so I'll just cross that bridge when I come to it.

So I just put Celestine in the stripping bath, and have decided how I'm going to do The armor for my Shieldmaindens, and their armor will be grey and red, Celestine and her gemenae superia will have white wings with gold trim, and red vestments and gold trim, while the seraphim ( I deceided to go with seraphim for my deliverers of punishment, it just seemed to be right) will have black wings. The Birds on Celestine will be done as ravens rather than doves. Though I probably won't do much expansion, and I'll probably just use my Chapter Rhinos for their Rhinos, since there's no reason to buy sisters rhinos.

I've begun working on celestine and her retinue, and it's slow going. I have a whole Raven Guard Heresy Project going on as well, and also some inquisitors that will need painting. These things are kind of consuming my time and money right now, but I'll be getting back to this project hopefully soon.
