The problem there is that Sergeant weapons have been an after thought added after release of the Intercessors. You can get various bits via the upgrade kits but this would be the ideal opportunity to consolidate that in one place. The main issue I think would be the need to include more options to make use of all the additional weapons the sergeant wouldn't use.

If I were gw I'd make the set dual as Assault/Primaris Vanguard allowing the latter to make use of all the spare weapons.

By GW logic, they produce the upgrade sprues, and you can get intercessor sergeant weapons there, so job's done. I'm normally one of the people who give GW a wide latitude on their business decisions, but I would be absolutely shocked if any weapon options aside from pistols appear in a stand-alone box of Assault Intercessors.

That said, I think the most likely candidate for a squad size upgrade is actually the Bladeguard. They seem to share a design space with Evocators from the AoS Stormcast line, and those started out limited to 3 in the Soul Wars starter box, and then were expanded to 5 when they got a full kit. I predict we will see something similar for the lads with nice power swords.

Ya know, it's been an interesting couple of days of list crafting with 9e points. Now I find myself seriously considering dropping my TFC as well.

At the end of 8e, I really only used it for tremor shell (plus suppression). Its not capable of killing vehicle based non-LOS for the most part, and frankly I suspect hordes will be running in smaller packs anyway, so the blast factor isnt as important.

With smaller boards, I am beginning to think even tremor shell will be less valuable. On most maps, simple footslogging will often work, and those opponents taking alot of transports will also suffer very little from it.

Anyone else coming to a similar conclusion or am I off base?

The TFC might still be very useful. Obscuring means there should be more LoS blocking terrain. Slowing the enemy’s advance still matters a lot. I’d be happy to see mine go but I’m not sure it’ll be out. 140 seems a pretty reasonable price for it, at least as Fists.
Wow I did my Iron Hands list and all I have to drop is one HQ. My opponents will have their work and some then ever getting to them. Sure am glad I never ran cheese like Chaplain Dreads and assault cents. I still have points for TFC.
