Hi all,

Like many people, I've got an Indomitus box on its way - or at least I hope I have. I've also got the sprues from Forgebane that I never got round to building into anything. So 3 wraiths, 5 Immortals/snipers and 5 Lychguard/praetorians. I've got no idea what to do with any of it.

I've built the Cryptek because there aren't any options on the kit. He's very cool though it looks like reanimation protocols don't work well. He might be useful for doing actions as he's fast for an infantry model. Not cheap though. I'm a bit baffled by this guy costing more than some of my Primaris characters.

Here's what I'm planning to do with the rest of it. I'd appreciate it if people could let me know if I'm making any major errors.

I think I'll make the elite guys as praetorians rather than Lychguard. Movement looks useful and I won't need a transport for these guys. It looks like massed planes won't be possible any more so Lychguard would have to walk. Praetorians look pretty harmless though so I'm not sure about this. They might be decent objective grabbers. I've always quite liked the look of these models.

It probably makes sense to build the Immortals with Tesla to hang back and zap away at things. Someone needs to do that and these seem a decent MSU troop option. I might hold off on these as I'm mainly thinking of going for Mephit dynasty. Gauss might suit them better.

How does all this sound? Should I just wait for the codex to drop and focus on one of my many other projects in the meantime? Thanks!

Since these are your only Necron units so far I'd wait on making any decisions. I have a large collection already so I just started rounding units out as I assembled my remaining Forgebane because no matter which way the wind blows I've got good options.

If you absolutely don't want to wait, Tesla is probably a safe bet for immortals and Paretorians with void blade and particle caster will be a useful unit in 9th but it's anyone's guess if there won't be something better. You know the Indomintus is fixed so I would look at things like the Praetorians and mobile Cryptek to supplement the Skorpeth Destroyers and look to your ETB warriors to supply gauss while your immortals tote Tesla.

It all depends on how fast you want to be on the table. There is going to be some wait for our Codex.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like waiting is clearly the better option. I’ve got plenty of other stuff to work on anyway for now - not least all the marines in Indomitus.

Decisions about whether to add whip coils or (apparently free) particle casters to wraiths can wait for a bit. I’ll put the frames away again for now.

The cloak of darkness or whatever its called on the cryptek allowing you to move him and a unit across the board is going to be very helpful in this more objective based/mobile edition of the game I feel.

As for the praetorians-- if memory serves they dont benefit from dynastic codes since they dont get the keyword. Shouldnt impact them too much, but just be aware of that.
