"....it is the closing years of the 36th Millennium. The Imperium of Man has long forgotten the tragedy of the Horus Heresy. All but the darkest of tombs in the deepest of vaults hold secrets of this time.

Forged from the survivors & heroes of the Ultramarines Legion, first amongst the 2nd Founding, The Genesis Chapter stand as pinnacles of the Codex Astartes. Led by their Chapter Master Strabo Helveticus the chapter is constantly at war on multiple fronts however.

Helveticus dispatches the 4th Company commanded by Battle Captain Ixion Scipio to the Thraxx system to ensure that initial Tyranid threats are brought to justice. Reinforced by elements of the 1st Company: "The Red Knights", Scipio now wields a fearsome task force."

Welcome brothers!

This is a project long in the making! For maybe over 8 years now I have been procrastinating this one. But a few conversations with some other awesome hobbyists (WarriorFish & Captain Idaho) have given me the push I needed to make a start!

So....the first unit will be elements of the 1st Company, "The Red knights". Led by the Genesis Chapters Master of Sanctity "Ardias Varus" they stand proudly alongside their brothers of the 4th Company.

The dude has some of the best painted miniatures around... We're in for a treat.

....well I don't know about that -blush- but I know my way around a paint station for sure! Fingers crossed!

Cheers guys, updates as always with me will most likely be sporadic!

So I grabbed some hobby time today to get a test mini finished for the "Red Knights" 1st Company. The white helm needs some...well white to be honest!

But its come out not too shabby I think!

Hello again folks! Another update at last.

So I finally managed to squeeze in some hobby time and knocked up my first troops choice. I'm a firm believer in  always having plenty of troops to choose from so naturally I went for the king of all units for this....the humble Tactical Squad. With missile launcher/flamer/bolt pistol chainsword Sgt they are lovely and cheap plus lots of 3/4th edition vibes too.

As some people may have seen from my Black Legion units I am a HUGE fan of running marines. Combined with the sculpted shoulder pads it means the minis are much beefier and barrel chested.

This squad is number 2 squad of the 6 squads of 4th Company. In my mind/fluff 1st Tactical will be the senior unit with a veteran leading them. 2nd-6th Squads would be led by standard Sgt's with loadouts to match. I just don't click with every Sgt wielding power fists and plasma all of the time...there has to be some junior Sgts somewhere right?

Let me know what you think guys!

Surprising how different they look just from different legs, but it looks great - they'll be perfect moving up the board to take objectives :D

Definitely, though they may have a Rhino to just in case!

Update: So I was pretty "meh" about the test mini that I painted. Whilst ok it didnt scream Genesis Chapter to me. The red was too deep and nowhere near enough bright.

With that in mind I set out to knock up another true test mini. I've gone back to my older painting technique that looks far brighter and much more battered etc.

The first thing to do was to finish off the bases. This was pretty easy with just some mixed sand, slate and texture paint in random patches...

Next it was painting time. Its a simple scheme but i think it works!

And there we go! Much better I think! Battered, bruised and fighting!

A big difference, the red really pops with the weathered look too so this is good and will look great on an army :tu: Don't forget to repaint the Termie so he doesn't get left behind :P

Thank you guys!

@WarriorFish: yeah they definitely pop far more in this scheme! Plus at only about 45 mins a miniature it feels like effort/reward is spot on!

@Prot: agreed, across whole squads and an army this scheme will work a lot better!

Grabbed some more time over the last couple of days...combat squad almost finished! Getting there!

Looking forward to get these 5 finished as it'll be onto a character straight after!

Quick update: Had an online hobby session tonight that ended up with the production of some armour, in the form of RhinoWhirlBacks!

This way I can adapt them to any lists that I want to build in the future.

I just need to now figure out how to adapt my painting style to work on the armour panels...

Yeah I have 2 RhinoWhirlBack (RWBs) and it's awesome to get more bang for your buck.

Though admittedly I only have the chassis right now and lack spare Whirlwind Multi-Launchers and Razorback weapons beyond Heavy Bolters.

"Take the...." Blood bubbled on Gallatan's lips as he spoke, the inside of his MK3 helm feeling claustrophobic and stuffy. "Take the......sword. With it....the 4th.... endures Falco..." Gallatan sucked great lung fulls of air in but his words barely whispered from his lips.

Apothecary Falco knelt beside the prone Captain. Curaiss, both pauldrons and his stomach plate armour had been hammered with bolter fire from the Iron Warriors. It was a wonder that Gallatan could breath at all thought Falco.

"Captain of course." Falco turned to a junior tactical marine and gestured for him to take Gallatans bloodstained sword away, back to the boarding pod. It was wrenched free from the Iron Warrior it pinned to a stanchion, its metre long blade screaming in metallic protest. Sparks coughed from the power unit within the golden hilt. A legacy of his days within the Ultramarines Legion, Gallatans sword would endure...

Brother Captain of the 4th Company Genesis Chapter. Formerly of the Ultramarines Legion 1st Grand Company. Was witness to the great 2nd Founding, selected to join the Genesis Chapter during its inception. Laid to rest M32 with internment with Dreadnought sarcophigi. His blade "Castle Breacher" is wielded by the current Captain of the 4th, Ixion Scipio whom Gallatan has taken under his wing.

I have also managed to find time to assemble the main force and assemble Captain Scipio himself!
