Hi all, before I start, I take your advice seriously, I just don't take myself or my armies seriously.

My Warhammer-interested friends (i.e. they don't play, but find it fascinating, with 1 going so far as to dress up as Magnus the Red last Halloween) have suggested a Space Marine Chapter: The Space Koalas a.k.a. The Emperor's Drop Bears.  It's so ridiculous that I have to do it now.

Please suggest good ideas for 9th ed Crusade, I'm aiming for just the 25 Power Level.  We are:

  • Looking for "Drop" themed lists, so including but NOT LIMITED to Drop Pods, other Deep Strike also good
  • Totally open about Chapter/Successor Tactics, Firstborn/Primaris
  • Because this is for Crusade, we'll be using Power Levels (not points)

Situation is I haven't been keeping up to date with Drop Pod or Deep Strike or alpha strike lists from even before the lockdown...because most everyone around here have been spamming Iron Hands and some Raven Guard.  Thanks in advance.

Matt Ward's Codex: Blood Angels (5th Edition) stated the Blood Angels would airdrop Land Raiders, allowing their tanks to Deep Strike the enemy. Why don't you have your Chapter do the same- maybe kitbash Repulsor grav-tanks with the Stormtalon gunship's tilting engines, so the tank can safely deploy from orbit?

I think a vanguard army would make the most sense. Infiltrators/incursors to scout out drop zones, inceptors, reivers, invictor warsuits, and the new fortification as drop/stealth units. Run the sneaky librarians as the hqs, and maybe some sort of smash captain.

I'd probably go with the white scars chapter tactic, because their tactic really helps reivers. It also provides a lot of movement abilities and an outflanking stratagem that is in theme. Plus you could make bear hug jokes when you get into close combat.

In the fluff, Repulsors are actually already capable of orbital drops, no modifications needed.

I know, but are they so in-game? If not, then we should fix this, i.e., modify the Repulsor's stats and write new special rules to serve the Drop Bears Chapter's needs.

I hope the scheme is white torsos with grey arms, legs, backpacks, and helmets.

Yeah, it was in fact a Space Marine Heroes Series 2 Terminator, the one with the Lightning Claws.  I showed my I-like-to-cosplay-Magnus-the-Red-but-I've-never-played-40k friend and she was like "KOALA FACE" and I was like "nooo, this is a grimdark Tactical Dreadnought Armou..." then I looked closer.  If you look at Terminator helmet's rebreather thing on the front of the helm like a big black koala nose and the "mouth" is like the white dimples koalas have and the ventilators on the top of the head as ears, it DOES look like a koala's face.  Kinda like what Brother Doghouse was saying about the Gravis armour helm.

Basically, now that I saw it, I can't unsee it.
