I firmly believe that drop pods are part of the core identity of Astartes. So I want to take matters into my own hands and allow them to be used in my Primaris only Ultramarines.

I only play friendly games with a gaming mate, so I think it would be okay to house rule it but we’ve never done anything like house ruling anything and are both completely clueless as to what would be fair.

So I’m looking for suggestions as to what would be a fair cost and/or limitations on having a drop pod or two. I’m happy to err on the side of slight disadvantage to me.

Nothing in tacticus armor is broken in a pod. In fact its probably worse than walking/impulsor except for hellblasters, and it might take them from garbage to semi decent.

Just Lucerne says, don't let Gravis in. Vanguard you wouldn't anyway since they get to basically deploy that way for free.

With the new ability for literally anyone to be held in reserve and outflank, giving basic primaris access to pods is purely a flavor choice, which won't impact your games balance much if at all.

Nobody takes pods, and firstborn have plenty of units that like them more than any primaris squad, because they're overcosted, especially compared to units with native deep strike.

I too have been wanting to do this, but always shy away from house rules. It's just SOOO much easier to go by official rules. But you are right, Drop Pods are THE Astartes deal and are so cool. I even had an epic conversion idea for my chapter! But Firstborn (even disregarding the awkward points and iffy rules) just feel too WEEDY to be marines. Was really hoping for Primaris Drop Pods this go around, but unless that fortification turret deep strikes and has a transport capacity...no dice.

I am moving to an new (well, my older gaming group, but a lot of new people), so will see how it works out. Not that we'll be able to get many games in due to The Plague. But I'll test where I can. I agree with the others, do 5 Primaris or 3 Gravis and it really should be fine.
