Axineton
Afternoon frater, so with the new necrons out and gw selling spray paint at a ridiculous price I was wondering is there an equivalent brass looking spray out there at a better price than £18 a tin? I’ve had a look around but not found much in the UK. Now I’m probably looking in the wrong place. BolterZorro
ISame here. Maybe in the vallejo metal color range for airbrush? but I'm not familiar with those. I am also interested by this question. Firedrake Cordova
Maybe in the vallejo metal color range for airbrush? but I'm not familiar with those. Model Air and Model Color might be a better bet, as Metal Color is limited in the yellow metal colours. I don't think there's anything that's a match to Runelord Brass, though. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365450-runelord-brass-spray-paint-equivalent/#findComment-5574771 Share on other sites
Arkhanist
Runelord brass is a remarkably tricky colour to match, even including normal brush paints. Vallejo air or metal color, AK xtreme, army painter, even darkstar; nothing close, and my colour matching app doesan't cough up anything either (I looked a while back when it looked like runelord brass had been removed from the webstore for a couple of weeks). The closest ironically is citadel sycorax bronze. The only way I could even get in the ballpark with a different brand was mixing a darker colour like Darkstar Blackened Bronze with a silver, which makes me think it's actually two pigments mixed together. The odds of finding a _close_ match in a spray can that's suitable for model painting aren't great; I've even had a look through graffiti ranges which are pretty wide, and not found anything even vaguely similar. Golds and silvers? 10 a penny; copper, brass, fairly easy. Pale bronze? Bit of a niche colour, though it may be out there somewhere! SnorriSnorrison
For me, getting an airbrush has seriously paid off, you can simply buy pots of paints and thin them down to airbrush consistency and spray away. Helps to save space on annoying primer bottles! So that's what I'd recommend, getting a full airbrush set. Might get set you back a couple of hundred euros at first, but it will pay off in the end, both in money and painting speed.
