Ulrik has a corrected data sheet

Saga of Majesty officially works on litanies as well (big boost for the melee centric canticle of hate builds)

yes, Valerian - but I've just checked Blood of Baal and Ritual of the Damned and they both specify Troops. Bizarre that the FAQ hasn't fixed this?!

Definitely. Clearly they’ve neglected this one, and didn’t do a great job with Field Manual quality control either.

Are you talking about the fact that the detachment gains Defenders of Humanity? That applies only to troops

Not according to Psychic Awakening or the FAQ, both of which supersede the codex.

It almost makes me thankful there aren't any tournaments right now as this would be a nightmare for a TO to rule on.

In the Codex, it says that if your army is Battleforged, then Troops units in Space Wolves Detachments get Defenders of Humanity.

But, in Saga of the Beast it says, Space Wolves Detachments gain the Defenders of Humanity ability (not just Troops).

This new Saga of the Beast Errata changes that to all units except Servitors and Beasts in Space Wolves Detachments gain Defenders of Humanity.

So, definitely not just Troops. Pretty much the whole army gets Objective Secured. Enjoy!

Rune Priest in Phobos can take from the Tempestas discipline now. Until we get the codex I suppose. If you put him on a forward objective and cast Fury of Wolf Spirits, with some support that becomes a very hard unit to shift. Oh we definitely giving him armor of Russ.

The rule Defenders of Humanity in itself states that Troops count as objective secured unless I am mistaken. I'll double check that

Edit: Spelling errors

It does not.

What Valerian said - I will confess this was my assumption as well but Defenders of Humanity is an ability which, prior to SotB, Troops units gained. The ability itself makes no reference to Troops units at all.

I was looking at the Codex Space Marine version, not ours. Apologies for trying to be the voice of reason.

This is heavily playing RAW when RAI is quite obvious given all the other versions of the rule. I personally won't be doing this in my games but it is there.

We will see if they fix that in the FAQ down the road.

Edit: Added some thoughts

You can combine this with phobos WL trait lord of deceit to put serious pressure on an opponent. Ideally this is on another character like a phobos captain.

9th edition is simultaneous deployment and nobody knows who has first turn until all units are down.

Another major change is no scoring objectives until the beginning of your next turn. So if you dont put yourself at risk on an objective you get nothing.

You can use a phobos rune priest with saga of the hunter and fury of the wolf spirits to put instant pressure on your opponent.

If you get first turn you can basically wipe out any infantry unit placed on the edge of the DZ.

If you get second turn redeploy using lord of deceit. You are now safe and have denied aggressive deployment to your opponent

Funny thing is another marine chapter like raven guard or white scars doing this doesn't scare you as a SW. With army wide HI and armor of russ tricks you can shut down alpha melee builds easily

That Defenders of Humanity wording seems so odd that it might well be intentional? Something to do with Wolves being the chapter most interested in actually defending Humanity? Not sure.... Be VERY strong if true, but I’m expecting a FAQ to alter the FAQ if that FAQ

Side note, one of the necron dynasties tgats been leaked does get all models obsec. So this is not completely impossible.

My thought is, if it's a mistake then it's kinda big because the wording makes it feel intentional, however it would be a bit odd so its definitely worth confirming the intent on.
