DarthWaffle
Howdy! Hope everyone is enjoying list building for 9th. Here is my Single Battalion list at 1750pts. Detachment: Battalion (-3CP) Regimental Doctrine: Cadian (or potentially a custom regiment with Gunnery Experts and Wilderness Survivors) Stratagems: Tank Aces (-1CP) Final CP = 11 HQ (497) Tank Commander - Execution Plasma Cannon, Plasma Cannons Sponsons, HB - 225 Tank Commander - Punish Cannon, HB, HB Sponsons, Tank Ace - 235 Company Commander - Chainsword, Bolt Pistol - 37 Troops (337) Infantry Squad - Plasmagun - 55 Infantry Squad - Plasmagun - 55 Infantry Squad - Plasmagun - 55 Infantry Squad - Plasmagun - 55 Infantry Squad - Plasmagun - 55 Infantry Squad - Sniper Rifle, Autocannon -62 Elites (115)Astropath - 25 Special Weapon Squad - 3xPlasma Gun - 45 Special Weapon Squad - 3xMelta Gun - 45 Heavy Support (516) Leman Russ Squadron - 2x Leman Russ Battle Tank w/ HB, Battlecannon - 330 Heavy Weapon Squad - 3x Mortar - 51 Wyvern - HB - 135 Dedicated Transport (285) Chimera - HB, HF - 95 Chimera - HB, HF - 95 Chimera - HB, HF - 95 1750pts I think infantry have a role to play and with blast being so dangerous I've maxed out my battalion with a full 6, one planned to be an objective or backfield screening unit with a sniper rifle and autocannon. Special weapons squads plus two other squads and CC load up in my three Chimera's to pressure enemy lines. My biggest concern is the lack of anti-tank, I may drop a few things to get 15 more points to add lascannons to the hulls of 3 of my Leman Russ tanks. Ideally the commander tanks get into the thick of things while the battlecannon Russ' hang in the back. Secondary concern is orders. I'm debating adding another detachment to simply add another Company Commander. Finally regimental trait. I'm really unsure what to pick here. Cadian's fit my fluff, but a custom trait might be more efficient on the table. With so many Chimeras I don't think I'm going to be sitting still that much. This will be something I will need to test. Edit: Trying really hard to be WISYWIG as much as possible. HallofStovokor
If you cut back on 1 chimera, you could probably fit 3 platoon commanders, or possibly 2 platoon commanders and a second astropath. DarthWaffle
Hmm yeah that's an option. I kind like having the Chimeras for blocking and movement, but I think it remains to be seen if they will do more than plugging orders into my infantry squads instead. Alternatively I was thinking I could drop the Mortar squad for 2 platoon commanders or astropaths. Or drop a special weapon squad and a heavy bolter on a chimera to a multilaser for roughly the same number of points. Another substitution I was considering was dropping the Wyvern in favor of three Armored Sentinels with Autocannons and maybe HK missiles to have a full Brigade. GuardDaddy
I think all lists should start with 3 astropaths. They are still crazy cheap. The targeted smite of psychic maelstrom is as good as a lascannon! Also deny the witch and strip cover are so useful. sairence
It's a nice, balanced list...AT might be a it lacking, might be worth exchanging the Punisher for a Demolisher for that. The Wyvern will already do decent against small stuff. My main worry would be that if you go Cadian, a lot of your units won't actually benefit all that much from your doctrine, as they're designed to be mobile. The best part of the cadian doctrine isn't the trait, it's the relic and the unique stratagem.
