Points cost/raise aside, what do we think the best Centurion build will be in 9th?

I play Imperial Fists and I’ve had this kit half built everr since they released, the weapons are still on the sprue.

I’m determined to clear my pile of plastic shame and I would like to use them effectively if poss.

Also, can the weapons be magnetised?

Thanks

As IF, definitely with bolters. Bolters everywhere.
In general, I'm leaning toward Assault Centurions but they require to be played as Raven Guard or White Scars to perform well.

They can be magnetized but it's a true pita. I did it on 6 of them and it took me a good part of a week.

You have to be very precise as their "wrist joints" for the weapons are not flat but on multiple sidesteps and drilling holes very precisely is key.

It's not what you asked but I think the points cost is pretty integral to the question here, because the weapon options didn't change the same amount.

3x Assault Centurions with Flamers, Assault Launchers each 55x3=165

3x Assault Centurions with Meltaguns, Assault Launchers each 65x3=195

3x Assault Centurions with Flamers, Hurricane Bolters each 70x3=210

3x Assault Centurions with Meltaguns, Hurricane Bolters each 80x3=240

3x Devastator Centurions with Hurricane Bolters and Grav-Cannons each 85x3=255

3x Devastator Centurions with Missile Launchers and Grav-Cannons each 85x3=255

3x Devastator Centurions with Hurricane Bolters, 2 Heavy Bolters each 95x3=285

3x Devastator Centurions with Missile Launchers, 2 Heavy Bolters each 95x3=285

3x Devastator Centurions with Missile Launchers, 2 Lascannons each 105x3=315

It's also hard to compare them since they have far different uses. Like Aenar said, the Assault Centurions probably need certain CTs to be worth running at all, but if you are running them, you're mostly doing it for the Siege Drills and statline (including the 2+ save). For 15 pts I dunno if the Hurricane Bolters are still a no-brainer over the Assault Launchers (are they better than a 50% chance to cause 1 MW per model?) The Flamers aren't worth it at all if you aren't running Long-Range Marksmen, since they can't shoot them out of deepstrike (only 8" range.)

When it comes to Devastators, the Heavy Bolters are pretty well eclipsed by the Grav-Cannons unless you're shooting them at Guardsmen (which you have other, cheaper options against) or T4 1w models like firstborn marines. I don't quite know how to factor in exploding 6s for IF CT but I would be surprised if it made a huge difference. Similarly the Missile Launchers outstrip the Hurricanes except for T3 1w models as you'd expect. Given that the Bolters are either more expensive or the same price, I'd say the Grav-Cannons and Missile Launchers are better unless some combination of Bolter buffs overcomes that, and I'm not sure if it even can.
