Captain Coolpants
Hi all! Pretty much what the title says. My grey knights are painted a dark grey, and I want them to look battle damaged. So this is my first attempt at trying battle damage ever. But the colours I'm using, make the damage extremely unnoticeable. So I know my weathering execution needs work. But I may as well get the colours right first. Here are a few pics of what I've tried. The last image shows how unnoticeable it is from a normal viewing distance. There are 8 decent sized damaged bits. And you can't really see them. Lovecraft0110
Hi Captain Coolpants, Having painted and weathered a lot of grey tanks, my suggestion would be to pick a much lighter grey, like Vallejo Ghost Grey, and then fill in the larger chips with s brownish black. This will give the chipping a more 3d effect, and represents either a primer layer in the actual armor, or the bare, slightly corroded metal underneath. I have covered chipping in several of my tutorials. One of them is this: I hope this helps! Captain Coolpants
Very cool! Thank you. So you think a light grey will show up better than the light silver? I shall give it a go! Lovecraft0110
Very cool! Thank you. So you think a light grey will show up better than the light silver? I shall give it a go! Thanks! Yes, if you went with dark grey rather than metallics, the chipping color should be a lighter grey. Always the same kind of color as the original, but a few shades lighter. Then, like I said, fill in the chips with a brownish-black (Ammo of MIG even make a color specifically for this, but you can mix your own). Hope this helps, Lovecraft0110, a.k.a.
