Guest
8th edition I didn't get to play as much as I wanted, and thus I quickly fell behind on painting my DG army and learning their stratagems and new rules. This edition I intend to keep up this time and start with pre-emptively planning an army list and a color scheme. However I need peoples help in making a list. My lists are always thematic so I wanted the slow moving infantry (PM and termies) and tank heavy lists and emphasis on 7. So I started developing a list on just that. However this list is incomplete, I have been researching various plague companies, psykers abilities, relics, and such and none really fit me well. So I am asking you the Lords of Contagion on your input to make a decent thematic and fun list, yet competitive. ++ Battalion Detachment -3CP (Chaos - Death Guard) [61 PL, 8CP, 1,143pts] ++ + Configuration + Battle Size [12CP]: 3. Special Officer Doofy
You should try a defiler and give it DR. Defilers are a fair amount cheaper than our PBC's now and being a ranged/melee hybrid as a vehicle can pay off in 9th. You can squeeze some loadouts in with your remaining 144pts. Edit: took out the random "and" I added haha Edited August 3, 2020 by Putrid Choir Iron Sage and TrawlingCleaner 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365627-getting-ready-for-9th/#findComment-5576475 Share on other sites
Guest
You should try and a defiler and give it DR. Defilers are a fair amount cheaper than our PBC's now and being a ranged/melee hybrid as a vehicle can pay off in 9th. You can squeeze some loadouts in with your remaining 144pts. So I looked into it, I can add a defiler with the battle cannon, combi bolter, defiler claws, reaper autocannon, and havoc launchers for 138 pts. I can then add contaminated monstrosity for 2cp. Not the biggest fan of the looks but the stats are good for the price I must say, especially how much our PBC went up (hopefully they come back down). Any recommendation for plague company? Special Officer Doofy
PBC were undercosted, but now are probably overcosted. More play testing will tell. That's exactly how I run mine, minus the combi bolter. I like keeping them cheap. I'm personally a big fan of poxmongers and using the 4++ relic. I run alot of Daemon engines and having a lord/DP walking with them for reroll 1's and 4++ is huge (sometimes give him arch contaminator too but that won't help a defiler). T7 and T8 with 3+/4++/5+++ and alot of wounds is hard to shift. As for looks, I'm currently converting up a defiler. Using dune crawler legs with a bloat Drone body. The normal defiler looks a bit silly imo. I just searched online and took inspiration from a couple different ones. Nurgle has some of the most creative conversations ever I feel! Special Officer Doofy
Also, multi-meltas are now heavy 2, and get d6+2 damage if in half range. Blight haulers went down to 100pts. Could be even more effective now. Edit: based off the Primaris ATV leak of "Multi-melta". Time will tell in October with the SM codex and sometime after with a DG codex. Because it's not "astartes" or "Primaris" multi-melta, it's just multi-melta. And seeing as melta's went down in points but multi went up in points it would make sense that it would follow a buff. And I'm sure when the space marine codex comes out they will not have two wargear options with the EXACT same name but different stats and rules, I'm sure the old marine storm shields will follow suit or one of the two will change names. And if that's the case, and the ATV multi melta gets a name change to "Primaris" or "astartes" multi melta with more shots, then I'll eat my words. I did add a disclaimer to my original post. Zombs
If our meltas really get that, haulers might become very good. Also I love how the defiler looks on paper but I hate having to spend 2 CP to give it DR. Expecially if you have more than 1. Bulwyf
I already run 3 MBH because those Nurgle pups are actually pretty good. You can hide some PM behind them to get some free cover. The increase to melta should make them even more viable. Don't forget they are actually decent in melee as well. Special Officer Doofy
MBH are awesome now. They actually went down to 100pts when almost everything in the game went up. Got an extra shot from the multi-melta, which is now stronger. Missle launcher AND bile spurt got blast rule. Now that there is more melee, the -1 to get hit in the fight phase will be used more often. They can still shoot the melta if they get tagged in melee. Cherry on top is they are still only $25 to buy. I'm starting to not mind they only have one loadout. The model looks cool too. I'm definately going to run 3 in my current list (which uses the 4++ Daemon engine relic). They add target saturation. If your opponent wants to ignore them, at least they are shooting at 3+ and can take some things down. WickedJester1013
I wonder if the Little haulers will see a multiparty kit come out. Easy to build deathguards is last chance to buy and that is the only way to get them Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365627-getting-ready-for-9th/#findComment-5586121 Share on other sites

MBH and poxwalkers are both ETB and still on the site and never went to last chance. Unless they plan on having other wargear for them, I doubt they will get a different kit. The current one looks awesome and is only 3 years old. Edit: But I am not against them making a multikit. That would be cool. WickedJester1013
Also I think that the little buggers are in a prime spot to get more options with a multiparty kit. Maybe simply the same options as the bloat drones. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365627-getting-ready-for-9th/#findComment-5587567 Share on other sites

WickedJester1013
Same as any other unit. Guns on a helbrute/dread don’t invalidate tanks or troops and vic a versa Also I meant it as a lazy option They could give them a melee option to run with a melee blob of marines, like a smaller version of the blades from the bloat drone, Oh didn’t see your entropy idea! Would love to see those around the army more. Maybe even on plague marine squads Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365627-getting-ready-for-9th/#findComment-5588047 Share on other sites
Guest
I believe entropy should be a vehicle borne weapon. However a MBH with entropy cannons are a great idea, maybe a plaguespitter on the other side. The reason for this is that MBH seem to have 1 long and 1 short range weapons.
