Hello

I am thinking about doing an EC summer project.

What is the status of EC in 9th edition ? Any stand out units ?

To begin with I was thinking about a unit of Terminators.

What are the best way to equip EC Terminators in 9th edition ?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Kind regards

Kim

EC have translated pretty well into 9th edition. Noise Marines were hit by a price hike but are still a very good unit. EC are also one of the best users of Terminators primarily because we can have them shoot twice (any Undivided Legion can as well, in fairness) and have them make incredibly reliable charges thanks to Honour the Prince. Opinions differ on how to equip them but the two most common builds are dirt cheap (chainaxe + bolter) or loaded with plasma (typically mass combi-plasma + chainaxe to keep the cost down). The bigger the unit the most efficient the use of stratagems.

As for other standout units, I like Possessed. A Dark Apostle with the Remnant is also a must if you are running a gunline.

Welcome to the perfect side :tongue.: Terminators are a great unit (just finishing my second squad up), not much else can compete with them in Rule of Cool - 9th has given them a bit of a relative boost in cost. I take lightning claws for style reasons (and conveniently in the kit), now they are cheaper I think they're a good combat weapon choice as a reliable middle ground. Something very Chaos Terminator about LCs too, just need the odd power or chain fist to help do some heavy lifting and they're set :smile.:

The shooting build is more effective as Loss says, but this depends on how competitive you want to be. For me, Slaanesh armies ideally want to be within punching range :laugh.: Will you be doing EC proper or a DIY build? Looking forward to seeing some pictures, keep us updated on your progress

Thanks for the replies.

The colorscheme will be very classic EC, purple and gold.

I will use strikers from puppetswar as Noise Marines.

I will use prime strikers from puppetswar as Terminators.

The Shoulderpads will be demonwing shoulder pads from puppetswar.

Heads will be Fallen Angels from puppetswar.

If I can get them to fit on the models I will be using chaos runes and symbols from Green stuff world.

I will also be using the EC transfer sheet from Forgeworld.

Noise Marines don't have to take blasters you can equip them with bolters if you'd like (for keeping costs down and catching bullets for the blaster Marines :tongue.: ). It depends what you want your Terminators to do with regards to load out, as they're quite flexible.

Chainaxes keep them cheaper while retaining a bit of bite in combat, but does keep them more restricted in role to clearing out chaff and the like which CSM doesn't particularly struggle with so if you're not sure a mix sounds like a good approach to me :smile.: Chainaxes can do the bullet catching too, leaving your more expensive and capable Termies to keep chopping  Same for the weapon upgrades going all combi-plasma etc is pricey and will put a bit target on their heads once they arrive, but spreading them out keeps costs down while retaining some utility.

Welcome to the Emperor's Children.  Please share with us your army as it develops.

I also did my army in purple and gold - here's the thread, which hopefully brings you some ideas: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346143-the-judgment-on-kadeth-dr-ruminahuis-emperors-children/?p=5053619
