My DA army all have sculpted chapter symbols

I am considering various methods of maintaining this on my indomitus models.

I have tried pop goes the monkey products but I find them too thick.

I am considering two options:-

The first carefully cutting the pads away and replacing them with sculpted pads.

The second is brass etched.

Has anyone used brass etched. What is the best way to use them and do you get a good fit.

I feel like more people would be using them if they worked well.

I just purchased some tiny chaos marks from GSW and they sure are tiny. Depending of the surface, i would try to center whatever you´re trying to apply to them. Then start bending them to match the surface if needed. Marine pads and other curved surfaces can be tricky, but i found that taking your time and making sure that the icons and others are against surface all around.

Some can be just pressed against shoulder pads with your fingers and being careful while softly applying pressure. Watch out those spiky ends if your icons have those. Usually just pressing brass icons causes them to bend and it´s easy to get them unto right shape.

I use brass etched

The ones I found on eBay are pretty good

I tried using etched brass squad markings, but found it was near impossible to get them to bend properly over a shoulder pad - there was always a part that stuck up rather than followed the contours of the curve, which in turn allowed any super glue to pool and made them stick out as far PGTM ones.

In the end I took a selection of the ones I wanted and glued them to a strip of thin metal sheet, then pressed that into some Blue Stuff to make a push mold. When that had hardened I just mixed up some Green Stuff, pressed that into the mold, and then trimmed off the excess once they had cured. It's a laborious process and there's probably a lot simpler methods, but they do have the benefit of being much more flexible than etched brass, can be shaped more easily if they need it, and allows you to have multiples of the more limited bits of brass.

Maybe try just taking a push mold of the DA chapter symbol you want copied and using that - brass is great for vehicles and greaves (or other parts of armour than only bend one way) but because the should pad curves horizontally and vertically you might find it more difficult than it's worth.
