b1soul
Any good pics out there of painted models repping this character? Couldn't find any via Google. Also, is he purely FW up to now? Has BL referred to him directly or indirectly in? any capacity. Theory is he is a former DA but he could be anyone using a DA greatblade, no? Also, how does this guy play on the tabletop? I've heard he's up there I'm the top 3 or top 5 of most killy Marine characters Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365919-nemean-reaver/ Share on other sites
apologist
According to Lexicanium, he appears in The Buried Dagger. Not read it myself, so can't vouch for the fact. +Edit+ Derp – I have read it. Did a quick search on my ebook, and The Nemean turns up in passing; a mere mention. Perhaps someone more familiar with the novel can say whether he makes an actual appearance. I've heard he's up there I'm the top 3 or top 5 of most killy Marine characters It's not theory. In Retribution, he is identified positively by Garro as a former Dark Angel, and asks for news of his sire - explicitly meaning the Lion. SkimaskMohawk
Take the current cypher model and then do some light conversions. Its pretty perfect; giant DA inspired sword? Check. Extremely baroque and unique armour? Check. Scarred face? Check. Master crafted bolt pistol? Check. He's also a beast on the table due to the high toughness, eternal warrior, initiative ap 2 and the other praetor level stuff. Being a Knight Errant, you also get a very good deepstrike and the secret missions. But if you don't accomplish the mission you can't win, so theres that lol. b1soul
Good recommendation of using Cypher I also found this on Lex Epimetheus was originally of the Dark Angels Legion, serving on Caliban under Luther. How he came to the Grey Knights is unclear. It is likely that he was once known as The Nemean, a Dark Angels member of the Knights-Errant whose fate was left unresolved. Upon his assuming the mantle of Epimetheus before the Emperor himself, the Marine stated that he never had a real name. - The Buried Dagger Could not bring myself to read more James Swallow, so could someone please elaborate? Charlo
Sounds like speculation, rather than him actually being the Nemean. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365919-nemean-reaver/#findComment-5585377 Share on other sites
b1soul
I actually hope the Nemean didn't end up as a GK, but why else would Garro pick him up if not to try to convert him to the cause? EDIT: Some interesting speculation here... http://warpstoneflux.blogspot.com/2016/07/eleventh-legion-tease.html?m=1 Edited August 16, 2020 by b1soul Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/365919-nemean-reaver/#findComment-5586411 Share on other sites
Paradigm
The Nemean is indeed a 1st legion survivor of the Rangdan Xenocides. He also canonically becomes a member of the Marines Errant, as Garro’s news of the Heresy causes the dark brotherhood to splinter along loyalist-traitor lines. But I don’t know if he is alive as a founder of the actual Grey Knights. It seems likely there are still XIth and IInd legion survivors serving with him in the brotherhood. They have like four different official iconography sets, (Skeletal Aquila, Stylized Elaborate Skull, Mained Lion Skull, and Sword Through a Snake and all accompanying markings though the snake-sword feels like a campaign marking, maybe for the xenocides) more than some of the legions. It seems reasonable it’s somehow due to their diverse and bleak origin as Rangdan survivors that were Blackshields long before the heresy.
