I have a feeling that three Gladiator Valiants (with 16 x S8+ AP-3 Dmg D6 shots a piece), backed up by a MOTF with the Master of Machines WL Trait, is going to be a dangerous combo once the SM Codex drops.

With 48 high strength, high AP, high damage shots a turn at 24", all at BS2+ (thanks to the MOTF and his WL Trait), not much is going to be safe from them. If they do get damaged, the MOTF can heal 3W a turn and, even if they get tied up in combat, they can still shoot at BS3+ against whoever is in melee range.

Finally, if you go with Iron Hands then the first turn the vehicles reroll 1s for free and double their wounds on the damage table and get 6+++ FNP, if you go with Imperial Fists they Ignore Light Cover all game and get even more damage versus vehicles turn 1, and if you go Raven Guard they get a 2+ save in the open and, on turns 2-3, get +1 to hit/+1 to wound against Characters.

This statement is in regards to Astartes units . . .

Vehicles like Melee are improved with much greater viability in many ways .... but properly applied Infantry shooting units are still going be what gets the bulk of the work done.

That said, even as an all-Primaris Infantry Raven Guard player, I must have two Gladiators :)

*sheepishly glancing at two unopened boxes of Invictors on the shelf*

Sorry, silly me, doubled the number by accident, thanks for the catch... 8 shots per, 24 shots total.

No, you were right. The Gladiator is equipped with two Gatling Cannons. We don't know if it's the regular Onslaught Gatling Cannon (8 shots) or Heavy Onslaught Gatling Cannons (12). If it's the former, it'd be 16 shots per Gladiator, if it's the latter, it's 24 per Gladiator

Or did we forget that twinning a weapon doubles the number of shots now?

Right, but presumably those Gatling shots won’t each do d6 damage.

Multi meltas on gladiators will be harsh. I think I like the gatlings best as a turret weapon and meltas on sponsons - though we don’t know what the other sponsons do.

I don’t think you’ll want to castle these things with characters. They’ll do d6 mortals if they explode. Maybe take the 9” aura warlord trait and stand well back!

You're thinking of the Gladiator Reaper.
