If even a squad leader of crusader squad, does the full getup, I would say yes they do.

 

To me Bladeguard is simply weapon configuration for my sword brethren. they take souped up shields and swords and iron halos

Easy fix. Just buy two extra SB boxes, transfer the cape bitz to your existing BGV models, and sprinkle the remaining bodies into various vanilla units for flavour.

You also get two capes per crusader squad. So you should end up with some spares?

Looks like the cape just slots into the back plate also, I’m going to convert so many captains with that piece

Can't see me repainting my AIs to have red trim... Will stick with intercessors and crusaders having black trim and save the red trim for bikes/jump packs/forward deployers/deepstrike etc.
