It looks like, from the leaks, that Hellblaster Heavy Incinerators will now be Hvy1 S8 AP-4 Dmg2, going up to S9 and Dmg3 when overcharged.

This gives Marines a "spammable", long range Dmg3 weapon (not counting the Dmg D6 lascannons, melts, etc), which in turns opens up the ability to deal effectively with lots of 3W units, including the following:

-Gravis Armor Astartes

-Terminators (going up to 3W soon)

-Custodes

-Harlequin Skyweaver Bikes

-Kataphron Breachers/Destroyers

-Ogryns/Bullgryns

-Wraithguard/Wraithblades

-Serberys Raiders/Sulpherhounds

-Meganobz

-Necron Destroyers/Hvy Destroyers

-Canoptek Wraiths

-Firesight Marksmen

-Crisis Suits

-Ripper Swarms

-Tyranid Warriors

-Hive Guard

-Zoanthropes

-Venomthropes

Just looking at this list, there are a lot of highly competitive units represented, so if Hellblasters can overcharge to S9 and Dmg3, all while shooting out to 36", I think they may see a significant uptick in competitive usage themselves.

With all the increase in wound and damage, i hope they stop the linear +1 damage to overcharge plasma.

The Heavy plasma incinerator with base damage 2 is nice, but when you look at the assault version, 3 shot at 24'' and can advance and shoot, i think the heavy version need to be damage 4 to be an option.

Same for the Macro Plasma or all plasma weapon with D2, i think it will better to double damage to 4 if overcharge.

Plasma overcharging only on unmodified 1s also means that the heavy penalty isn't as punishing, and smaller boards make 36" range less limiting. It'll be workable to do something like deploying your heavy Hellblasters behind obscuring breachable terrain (ie, ruins) to protect them from alpha strikes, then moving them out of it to shoot.
