I've been thinking about getting that £85 one to match the FW black books but I assumed the new one is the same size, just want to make sure the special edition isn't smaller else not worth getting. Thanks It’s the black one to match the FW books. Sadly the new one doesn’t match in scale. Although if the FW ones had been the same as this one it probably would have been easier to read them. It matches in most other ways. I would rather they didn’t use photos of models in the books though. It takes away from the ‘history’ book character of them. This is very much a solid gaming book in the style of the 40K rule book. Pretty sure they have plans for a similar one for the siege and scouring. It makes it clear neither are included here for the target narrative play. skylerboodie 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366065-lets-review-the-black-books/page/5/#findComment-5840596 Share on other sites

That’s a serious, major bummer that these new black books do not align size-wise with the old ones. What a daft decision IMO. I totally agree about them being difficult to read, but loads of us have invested a great deal of money collecting the black books and they take pride of place on many bookshelves. This new version not being the same size is going to spoil the display. Thanks for confirming; very disappointing that they don't match, but at least now I don't need to keep thinking about forking out for it! I guess it's hard to convert all the designed pages from the regular edition to fit the same dimensions as the black books, but still a shame.
