Now with contaminated monstrosities these guy can be our ultimate screening unit and are really cheap. 115pts for 20 T5, 5+++ wounds that can actually hit like a truck if they get to combat unmolested.

Add bellguy with 5++ relic and they become quite tanky!

Thoughts?

I ran a squad of 3 yesterday with the bell and contaminated monstrousity. I advanced them up the flank, grabbing an objective and screening it out. A unit of Poxwalkers advanced behind them, but not far enough to reach the objective. 2 units of talos approached but split fire, killing 5 Poxwalkers while only doing 2 wounds to the spawn. Next turn I move them into charge range, cast Blades on them, and shot the talos with the Wormspitter. I then shot the talos with my leviathan, killing 1. I then charged with the spawn, killing 1, and taking 1 wound off the other. His last talos killed 2 spawn. Moral phase I asked for him to roll, where he said he only lost 2 so couldn't fail. I said but you're at an additional 3, 2 from the butcher cannons and 1 from the spawn. He failed it and ran away.

So yes they can work, but I think it will depend on what you can do with them. I just wanted something fast to grab an objective, so they did their job. Bonus, they took out a unit of talos.

Just remember they are neither infantry nor a troop choice. You can't use all the stratagems, spells, auras, etc.. that you may want to.

I have a question about contaminated monstrosity. Is it the total wounds of the unit that determine the CP cost or is it the individual model?

I've only seen other DG players use them as a left over point dump to sit on objectives.
