Aeternus
Hey all, looking at picking up some more models for obliterators which arent just the 2 monopose shadowspear one, so got a bit curious about how they size up against some of the forgeworld battle automata. In particular, if anyone had any pictures of size comparison (or could get some) between the obliterators and either Vorax, Castellax/Domitar, and Ursarax/Thallax it'd be hugely appreciated!! My vague notion from models I've seen would be that castellax would be slightly too large, but that Vorax may be about the right general size even if they're considerably more spindly in places? Commander Dawnstar
Not the most ideal comparison thanks to the extra height from the scenic base, but: The Obliterators' shoulder guns put them just a little bit below the top of the Castellax's head when they're starting from the same base, but it's hard to ignore that their actual main body is the best part of an inch shorter when you put them side-by-side. The more dynamic poses do make up for it somewhat but there's still a fairly noticeable difference. Aeternus
Much appreciated Commander Dawnstar! Aye, like suspected the castellax is slightly too large, but still closer in general than I expected. Think without the top gun, and putting some bend in the legs so it's a bit shorter might actually be just about right in fact, though then the struggle would be integrating larger weapons on the arms without it feeling a bit over the top. Still, a promising lead, thanks again :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366141-obliteratormechanicum-size-comparison/#findComment-5591838 Share on other sites
Trokair
Have you considered Myrmidon Destructors, I don't have an Obliterator for comparison, but compare to the Thallax and Casteallx I suspect it be the right size. Subtle Discord
As I've mentioned down in the Chaos sub forum, have you considered using some of the Necromunda Ambots as a base? If you've got a good bits box it should be possible to come up with some interesting and unique creations. Trokair
There is also the new 'Jotunn' H-Grade Industrial Servitor Ogryns, ad some bits to uparmour and ad some more guns and you should be good. Talking of the specialist games, have a look at the Adeptus Titanicus range, Warhound, Porphyrion or Cerastus could also work. I use some Warhounds as Venrable Dreads in my Deathwatch.
