Nubster
Trying to figure out how to start painting my wolves...I don't want to do the standard power blue...I like grey but that seems to be the standard alternative. I tried metallic and I really like the look but as pointed out on a Fb post...does have a Grey Knight vibe. I haven't added any wolfy bits yet to definitely say...this is a Space Wolf, not a GK. Just wanted to share the paint scheme and see who else is doing non-traditional paint schemes. Ahistorian
I can't actually see your picture - have you considered the tiger stripe Space Wolf camo from Rogue Trader? Jorin Helm-splitter
I really like the paint scheme (and the mini), I sorta get the grey knight comparison but I think it has more to do with them being seen as the metallic paint chapter. I think adding a space wolf style pack marking would help people associate them with wolves from the start. PeteySödes
Im rocking a lighter heresy grey style atm. I plan to keep the semi traditional pack marking colors though! ranulf the revenant
Another idea might be contrast paint (basilicanum grey for example) over metallic ☺? Might be worth a try... There's nothing wrong with your scheme though Edited September 3, 2020 by ranulf the revenant Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366300-non-traditional-paint-schemes-lets-seeem/#findComment-5595894 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Vykryl bid a metallic scheme, but the washes did a nice job of dullng it down a little and got a nice metal grey. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/295375-vykryls-great-company-wip/?do=findComment&comment=3781013 Edited September 3, 2020 by Dantay VI Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366300-non-traditional-paint-schemes-lets-seeem/#findComment-5595919 Share on other sites
Cpt.Danjou
As soon as you do pack-markings and add some pieces of fur, runes, or other tidbits that are associated with the wolves, that mini will not be mistaken for a GK. Just by having a couple minis with space wolf heads will make them recognizable as a wolf pack. My scheme is not that uncommon as it is more of the HH colour. But here is a hellblaster pack without any other changes but the heads. ranulf the revenant, DaveyBoy74 and NightHowler 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366300-non-traditional-paint-schemes-lets-seeem/#findComment-5596160 Share on other sites
Dantay VI
Vykryl did the armour with game color gunmetal with a wash of nuln oil. He said that leadbelcher just went darker, but the gamecolor went more of a flat color.
