The 8th edition of 40k began in 2017 and ended in 2020. In those 3 years, 3 iterations of the CSM codex and maybe 3-4 iterations of the Space Marines Codex were released.

If you can remember or bought all three codex when they were released each time, can you tell if the lore of the CSM or the lore/stories of the Space marines, had any new additions with each new release i.e. was more lore added to each new release in the sense of information about new battle engagements or wars involving the armies? I am seeing in the Lexicanum that certain small engagements or battle involving the CSM armies have a reference to the 8th Edition Codex entries.

I want to buy just one codex book for each army for the sake of the lore. When the Space Marines codex releases or the CSM codex releases, will all the iterations released each year have some new addition to the lore about invasions and battle engagements or will they all be the exact same lore wise but with updated FAQs and rules related to table top wargamming?

Brothers, please help me out in this regard. I hope this question follows the board rules and is in the right forum. I really need your help brothers. Please give me this information.

While I don't know the actual answer to your question, There have only been two CSM codices and two SM codices to date since the beginning of 8th. We currently don't know what lore will be in the upcoming 9th edition codices though I imagine they'll be slightly more complete

Thank you Brothers Moderati for answering my query and also thank you to whoever edited the title of my post.

I am very grateful for your clear answers and I appreciate that you took the time to post a reply.
