ThePenitentOne
So, yeah, I managed my expectations- GW has taught me that I can never expect too much as a non marine player. I try to stay as positive as I can, especially here. Maybe it's okay that there was really nothing that I'm interested in for the rest of the year since I don't really have the money anyway. I also know it's not GW's style to lay out an edition map- they'd rather keep us guessing. So what do you think? Will we see another Xeno faction get redone in 2021? Just one Xeno faction, or dare I hope for two? Do you think IA will contain anything for Inquisition or Sisters? Doesn't really matter anyway; I hate resin and Forgeworld is even more expensive than GW. Paying more for a model I'll like less isn't really an option, even if they do give the Sororitas keyword back to the Avenger or re-release the Repressor. I know DE are getting Lelith and Sisters are getting a Palatine, but I'm really sick of not knowing when and whether or not we're getting anything else. And for me, it sucks that the reason I don't know these things is that they just can't shut up about Space Marines, Space Marines and Space Marines. At least one of the Space Marines Chapters is Death Watch; I still think of them as the Chamber Militant of the order Xenos, even if GW has weakened that link. And yeah, I get that Death Guard are Chaos, not Marines. So yeah, it could be worse. But would it have been so hard to take 10 seconds to tell us which Xeno faction would be next and give us a year and a quarter? Vague reassurances that whatever we want is coming don't really cut it. Borbarad
News and/or rumour? Or monologued opinion? ThePenitentOne's option is the piece of news we all have been eagerly waiting for. His immeasurable disappointment with GW has long been rumoured, but now we have the confirmation. And what brilliant news it is; the disappointment runs deeper than any of us might have fathomed. Gederas
I was wondering when one of your threads was going to show up..... Good on you for not making us wait. So what do you think? Will we see another Xeno faction get redone in 2021? Just one Xeno faction, or dare I hope for two? I'm thinking that's it for this edition. Nope. Because Sisters have no models and Inquisition doesn't either outside of Hector Rex and Solomon Lok. Also, if you hate Resin, don't even comment on Forge World stuff. Just pretend it doesn't exist, since you're clearly not ever going to USE IT. I know DE are getting Lelith and Sisters are getting a Palatine, but I'm really sick of not knowing when and whether or not we're getting anything else. And for me, it sucks that the reason I don't know these things is that they just can't shut up about Space Marines, Space Marines and Space Marines Hey, it's almost like GW hasn't given concrete release dates (except for a week or two before) for ANYTHING for years now. You expect them to change this? People like you will just and moan if they give a concrete release date in advance. Marshal Valkenhayn
I'm of the opinion we'll see fast and furious releases. If you count the supplements as half a codex each, we're still getting 4.5 Codecies in 3 months, and that isn't even counting the Imperial Armory. Maybe I'm being optimistic, but we could see the rest of the codecies released before July of next year. Let's wait to see how thick they come post supplements, then judge the schedule. Brother Tyler
They very clearly said that everyone is going to be updated in time, that they are currently working on the myriad factions of the game right now and that we'll see these updates as we move into 2021 (and beyond).Resources are limited - manpower and time being foremost among those. Any such effort is going to be tackled over a span of time, with the company having to establish its priorities and schedule. There is only so much time left in the year for things to be finished, so a finite number of products/factions are going to be covered. Other factions/products will happen in 2021, 2022, and throughout the duration of this edition. And then we'll go through the cycle all over again next time, and the sequencing will be different and someone else is going to be upset that "their" faction isn't released right away. In general [codex] Space Marines will usually be featured somewhere near the front end of sequencing for any edition (when all is said and done, they are the face of both the WH40K game and the Games Workshop/Warhammer hobby, after all). Last edition it was [codex] Space Marines and Death Guard. This edition it's [codex] Space Marines and Necrons (with Death Guard in a close third place). And with the consolidation of most of the Space Marine Chapters into Codex: Space Marines, there is the additional workload of this greatly increased faction, but also the satisfaction that other sub-factions that were previously separate can now be covered on the front end with the main Space Marines update. In the interim, the existing codices are good enough to get us by until they are updated. We're never going to get everything all at once. No one is ever going to be fully satisfied with the sequencing that Games Workshop chooses. + EDIT + And I've already had to edit out some personal attacks. This topic is going nowhere. It's a kneejerk reaction to this morning's preview. We know that more stuff is coming and that the whole range will be updated as soon as GW can get around to it (and in spite of the doomsaying in the OP, each faction will be updated in this edition). So I'm closing this before it gets out of hand. So this is the current list of armies, going by supplements as half a codex: Imperium: 9 (no Idea how to count Inquisition and Assassins) Chaos: 5 Xenos: 8 Current total: 22 So 4.5 codices in 3 months is fast by GW standards Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/366459-somewhat-disappointed/#findComment-5599945 Share on other sites
Blindhamster
if anything, what they are doing seems smart - which is to get basically all the marine related stuff out of the way. By march all the marine things will be done and i bet most of the traitor ones too. The rest of the year can be used to update the xenos then.
