Tucked away in the middle of the WarCom article about all the desperately needed marine weapon buffs, there's a couple of positives for the Cult - flamers and hand flamers both jump out to a 12" range. That's handy for neophytes, but a significant change for acolytes - suddenly, a unit of acolytes can drop in within hand-flamer range without having to use either Lying in Wait or Perfect Ambush.

So, is the hand-flamer bomb about to be a thing again? It certainly gives them more tactical flexibility, and a bit of protection from other assault troops charging into them. On the other hand, everyone and their Imperial lapdog mother got the flamer boosts too, and most of them have access to the good end of the flamer spectrum, and can now pick off our chargers no matter how far away they start. So we're likely worse off overall. But you know, focus on the positive and all that.

(Plus our Leman Russes got better heavy flamers, heavy bolters and multi-meltas, so there's that too.)
