The models are well-painted. How will you decorate their bases?

Thank you. I'm going to use a mix of autumn static grass, tufts and dried seeds (they look like leaves). Going for a bland, natural look to offset the armour colour.

That’s a lovely purple you’ve achieved. Mind explaining how you did it?

Sure! I've got this project on a spreadsheet so I don't forget what I did. Hope this helps.

  1. Screamer Pink - Base
  2. Screamer Pink / Pink Horror Layer 1 : 1
  3. Pink Horror - Edge Highlight
  4. Pink Horror / Ushabti Bone - Edge Highlight
  5. W&N Violet / Thinner - Wash / Pinwash 1 : 6 / 1 : 1

W&N is Windsor & Newton oil paint, I find oil paints amazing for washing and shading. The capillary action of oil is amazing. You can also work into the oils as they dry to add extra shading and to feather it out with a separate, dry brush. Finally, I find oils have a really pleasing transparency when used for shading.
