First post here because I just found this forum and decided to sign up.I'm not sure how converted/altered themed Ultramarines will fare in this forum but I'll post them anyway! Being that the Ultras are based off the Roman theme, I have always pictured them with a bit more of a Greek style as an Elite squad. So far I have finished my Phalanx Guard (bladeguard), Spartans (assault intercessors) and now working on some Veteran Spartans. Let me know what you think! Also, I've gotten a lot of hate from Minotaur, Iron Snake and Emperor's Spear players for obvious reasons. Where are the spears from? And those Corinthian-looking mk.X helms ? And I suspect that a reasonable proportion of the hate from those aforementioned chapter players is merely envy. Because you haven't just gone for some Greek aesthetics .... you've done an excellent, downright amazing job of executing it as well. Besides which - it's worth noting that there's already quite some Graecian elements in the Ulramarine background to begin with. Macragge , after all , has a certain Fortress of Hera rather central to the Ultramarines (a Library of Ptolemy as well) ; [similar Greek inspiration turns up all throughout Ultramar - including Corinth and Herapolis as prominent cities upon Esprador, for example; the Contemptor Telemachus ... etc. etc. etc. ]Although in the case of the Minotaurs players ... well ... The other smaller ornate shields are by Scibor Miniatures while the Ultra tassels are from a random creator on Shapeways.com I have plenty more planned, so this project has only just begun! Some items fit the Primaris Marines better than regular marines. Look forward to see more of your work.
