Hi guys, I am slowly finalizing my truescale (at least to a content) Terminators/Paladins (all magnetized so easy swap between helmets, banners and honor shields)

The increase in size/height is achieved by

  • adding 2 layers of 1mm plasticard to feet/soles and ankles. I know this maybe creates bit wrong proportion between lower legs and thighs, and originally I was thinking to add 1mm layer to thighs, but there is simply no space to do so without ruining the runes/decorations that each mini has there.
  • adding 3mm magnet between pelvis and torso/chest. This magneted area will be covered by made up armor plates which I made kitbashed from Primaris Inceptors belly armor and then copied over using bluestuff and miliput.

And here comes the question - I have made 2 different belly armors, one - more simple plain plated, second more segmented-detailed. I cant decide which is better... the plain one suits better Terminator armour asthetics to my opinion, but looks too bland.. the segmented looks probably better on first sight, but maybe too much "tacticool"/Primaris (which I would like to avoid).

Please see pics below - and let me know which belly armor you prefer and why.

Honestly. I'm not too sure. Both are looking a tad out of place/long for my liking. I think it's probably because its yellow, and stands out more than it would all painted. Maybe paint it grey? That'll definitely help me decide.

But obviously, I'm a simple brain that's getting distracted by colours haha. Others probably won't have the same issue.

:D, yea well miliput is yellow.. so..

and I havent painted those bellys yet as first would need to chose which "prototype" I will be copying over 20 times to attach to each mini. and only after that filling gaps, clean it up, and start painting.

and on the note - them being too long - would you make them bit smaller/shorter torsos? they are 3mm now, hmmm is 2mm doable.. just would have to sandpaper some material down. Though they would be smaller.... and I have feeling they are still not tall enough to represent 2.5m tall superhuman even now

The segmented armor looks best and more realistic. The plain design looks more like the midriff portion of a body cast:teehee:

I suspect that the reason some might find that your true scale looks off (that was my first impression too) has to do with the design of GK terminator armor. GK terminator armor has a leaner look than the bulkier standard Space Marine terminator armor. On close examination, your design looks quite good:thumbsup:

thanks for feedback guys I appreciate. I acknowledge at first glance they might seem odd, as habit is the second nature :smile.:, it might take 2nd or 3rd or even much more looks to get used to.

however what I am trying to do is to actually get rid of the very weird proportions of the normal terminator models. The guy designing them originally has to have very distorted view on proportion of human (yea.. superhuman) body and placement of body parts..

I will illustrate what I wanted to achieve on this picture

I increased leg length by 2mm and torso by 3mm, so proportion of torso to legs got more "shorter legs vs torso ratio"

I decided to go with segmented armor, though reworked bit differently. this is final prototype (this one is grey colour - for Coolpants :smile.: )
