I need a primaris transport. I'm intrigued by the repulsor, mostly because I can pick one up for less real money than an impulsor right now. Have any of you had any luck running a repulsor in actual games? Seems to me it would be quite vulnerable to getting blown up turn 1 and therefore completely failing in its role as a Ragnar/Bladeguard/Assault Intercessor/Judiciar delivery system.

I have run mine once but the durability vs point cost is just not worth it. Sadly I find the impulsor to be far superior, especially when 2 costs what a repuldor costs and tgey have a 4++. Sadly the real money cost of 2 impulsors versus a repulsor is a bit restrictive.

The impulsor costs more $ in real life because it is one of the best units in the game right now

The 4++ shield dome makes it insanely durable

You can also move then disembark...excellent for taking objectives with OBSEC troops

I was refusing to use it until a few weeks ago and finally gave it a test...I hate how awesome it is

The impulsor is quite good. I don't play any Primaris with my SW, but for the DA I was quite happy with its ability to move forward and grab an objective as early as possible.

I think the Repulsor costs too many points compared to the impulsor.

A big fundamental problem I see with the Repulsor is that it's covered in guns. This isn't just something for aesthetics, but you have to pay the points cost for every gun they decide you have to glue on it... So it ends up just too much for a bus to get them to the other side of the board.

That's about what I figured unfortunately. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and shell out for an impulsor, my boys need a ride that isn't going to blow up turn 1.

Just found an FLGS online with impulsors in stock with the standard discount off the GW price, so I bought 2. I have a problem.

It is still worth it.

I use 1 in my list.

Fly means you hide behind walls out of LOS.

Move 14" and disembark means you have tons of options

The shield dome at 5++ is just a bonus. So long as points don't go crazy it is your best tool to get troops/primaris HQs into melee and then eat overwatch for the charge

I put ragnar and a judiciar in my impulsor

Yeah and points stayed the same its it's still the better transport option. A little disappointed the other upgrade options for the impulsor didn't go down because I've only rarely seen them used and I don't think nerfing the shield will fix that.

Oh I am definitely not going to return them. However, if it leaks tomorrow that Repulsors are getting a 3++ I will be irked!

The shield dome going to 5++ is a downer but not entirely surprising. Having a fast Transport with better shields than an Imperial Knight seemed odd, no matter what cybernetic rabbits Cawl pulls out of his hat.

I heard a rumor the impulsor and many other hover vehicles are losing the FLY keyword

If that happens it changes a great deal of the utility

Now you have to decide if the assault disembark after moving is worth the points...still has great potential to move and steal an objective by kicking out an obsec unit

hmmm

I think they'll be fine. Some of the interactions before were completely ridiculous, like being able to move through models due to fly and drop stuff off behind them, being able to traverse vertical floors, etc.

My main use for them, which was using that fast movement to get them where they need to be and unload onto a forward objective turn 1 hasn't really changed.

Might just make sure to magnetize them, as you may be more incentivized to take fewer options, although the shield dome is still worth it I think. They aren't an autoinclude anymore, but they're still fine as a dedicated transport. If playing Primaris, you'll still need them.

Repulsors are now removed from dedicated transport now as well, placed in Heavy slot with Land Raiders, which is where they should have been all along.

I think they’re still fine just not borderline auto take, 5+ is still really nice on a transport. Most opponents are loath to potentially burn anti-armor shots on that, esp a transport. Edited by PeteySödes

Ok. I just spent like $130 on impulsors yesterday so I need someone to tell me everything will be ok.

They still move 14, so while you can't just fly over LoS terrain they're still fast. The repulsor field is a stratagem and we have more command points now. They'll be fine and I think they'll be pretty reactive with thier points if they stop showing up in lists.

You have 1 major advantage using impulsors

You can move 14" and  disembark OBSEC troops another 3"

That means you can potentially steal an objective out from under your opponent 17" away

It is very powerful in the 9th edition meta...I am using that trick every game at some point

It won't be as easy to pull off without fly but it is something no other transport can do

Agreed. I think the only reason Repulsors were Transports rather the Heavy initially was that Primaris had no other vehicles that could carry them for much of 8th.
