Commander Nicky
I have now read the new Codex Astartes and have come upon some definitions which kind of confusse me. The core unit and character unit is the most difficult for me to understand 'cause, as I can understand it, the term "core" is any unit which contain it in its Keyword. This is almost always a multi-model unit (with the exception of Dreadnoughts) and is suppose to be affected by some Aura abilitiy. Now Dreadnoughts have core as a Keywords, so they can also be affected by abilities which affect core units but what for example with the Strategemism: Wisdom of the Ancients? Since a Dreadnought also is a core unit, is it also affected by its own Aura ability? It sounds cool, but I don't know if this is intended or not... And if this is true, what about abilities which affect characters? Can they also be affected by their own ability if this ability specifies, that the unit has to have the character keyword? Like for example the Chapter Champion whos Martial Exemplar aura affects friendly >Chapter< core or >Chapter< character unit within 6" of this Warlord? The Aura abilities definition on page 202 in the core rulesbook says; "A model with an aura ability is always within range of its effect", but did GW not specify, that characters cannot be affected by others aura abilities? Or am I mixing it together? Just want some help please, 'cause my head hurts. Also is it just me or are the Master of the Chapter upgrade costs on page 98 different from does on Point values (page 202)? Dracos
I would check an FAQ it as far as characters go they have been very specific in saying characters are not affected by characters (thus not having the Core keyword). Not all auras will have the Core keyword limitation but the Character keyword might be the limiting factor depending on which rules are involved. Sword Brother Adelard
You're right. The chapter command points are different on page 202. All, bar chapter master are 10 points more expensive. Closet Skeleton
Characters are in range of their own abilities, the core keyword was introduced to limit characters affecting themselves but there's no blanket ban on such. If a character has an ability; aura or otherwise, says 'core or characters' then they get that bonus themselves.
