Halandaar
Hi all, With Chief Apothecaries and Masters of Sanctity etc a proper thing again, rather than just being an in-game upgrade for a normal model I'd like fielding one for my homebrew chapter to feel significant, like picking Calgar in an Ultramarines force or Mephiston for BAs. With that in mind I'm looking for some ideas (or examples) of what makes a Chapter Champion unique, what makes a Chief Librarian stand out, thoughts on modelling the various Command-specific relics, rules and traits. I appreciate that this is a bit vague but really I'm looking for inspiration and any/everything is helpful! NovemberIX
Bling and capes! If you can swap in some nice molded shoulder pads from a vets box that helps, outside of the model itself, their base could feature a riser or some other piece of detail to make them stand taller. As a DIY you can use things like alternate colorways, or stripes denote extra levels of veterancy. Rik Lightstar
It's all about the "theme" for your army, the basic rule is to keep dialling it up as you go up through the ranks. What's the theme you've gone for? Mandragola
Nice white scars. I like to convert miniatures and I've built up quite a few spare bits. It would be a fun project to do Chapter Commanders for all my Crimson Fists. For Chief Librarian, maybe I'd use Tigurius. Give him a sword from somewhere or other and replace all the toilet seats with fists, gems and stuff. I've got a couple of Vitrix Guard after converting Calgar into my version of Pedro. They've got cloaks so they might form the basis of some conversions. It might be fairl easy to make one into a Chief Apothecary. Some GS work would be needed on the cloaks where they're designed to meet the shields. Dracos
I don’t know if it’s the ex military or competitive side of me but I like to keep distinguishing patterns between my leaders and troop types simple as possible. Chaplains, Librarians, Apothecaries, and Techmarines armor is a muted version of the classic color. Stripe of secondary color on the Sgts head Lieutenants helmet is the secondary color Captains either get a personal head or their helmet is same as the regular infantry. Each Captain is converted heavily or the model is so different than standard that they are easy to pick out while still looking like one of the guys. Anyone Phobos I try to give a camo-hood to. My head canon is there is no vanity, no grasp for glory amongst the Warhawks. Like the Raven Guard and Raptors, they are a professional, methodical, military force that understands its duty to the true legacy of the Emperor. To protect and unite mankind from all that is foul, within and without. They adapt to the social and environmental conditions they are in at a particular time with a Shadow Council that consist of Grey Shields born 10,000 years ago. “ The nail that sticks out gets hammered down” Sorry about that last paragraph. Still developing the RP side of the Warhawks. /) Edited October 21, 2020 by Dracos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/367154-chapter-command-how-do-you-represent-them/#findComment-5620618 Share on other sites
WrathOfTheLion
Need to make a Master of Sanctity. This is the first time DA can possibly make Sapphon appear on the table (at least going back a few editions). No datasheet and had no mechanism to promote... Since we had no representation of the character unlike SW and BA, first now getting in on being able to chant 2 litanies and all that. Will probably wait until the supplement though. Knowing our luck, they'll kill off our MoS from the lore. Halandaar
It's all about the "theme" for your army, the basic rule is to keep dialling it up as you go up through the ranks. What's the theme you've gone for? Rik So far I haven't actually nailed it down, which is a product of it being a game-driven army rather than a lore-driven one I suppose. I have a name; The Argent Praetorians, so I might choose to lean into a Roman theme purely on the basis of the name. My grand vision was to put together a single chapter that, if I wanted, could be fielded using any of the Chapter rules available in the game. So I could play using BA rules, or Ultras, or DAs etc and just have a single pool of generic infantry and vehicles to draw from, with the characters and chapter-specific units adding flavour where needed. The justification I'm using is that the various companies operate in slightly different ways, with different specialisations and preferred strategies. So up to now, everything has been left fairly generic so it could slot in nicely under any ruleset.
