As part of my titan/Angron project I need a couple of bits and bobs - for the Warhound I need some fairly durable rod - the vast majority of the weight is going to be going through the titan's back leg, but it is going to be leaning forward a little bit in its pose so I want to anchor that standing leg securely. It is highly likely that Angron will be built up to the titan and outside of running a small rod/magnet through his palms into his arms to secure him to the titan I don't think he'll be taking much weight. As part of this  I'm looking to build a 600x600mm board with a fairly sizeable hill/mound of rubble that Angron will have crawled out of (think Betrayer by ADB) but I'm not really sure how to go about starting it.

The two questions then:

Are there any good outlets for reasonably cheap 1-2mm brass rod?

And what sort of foam block material ±10cm tall, should I be looking for to start carving chunks out of?

I was wondering if the community had any recommendations in terms of material/stockists (UK based) to point me in the right direction :)

I suppose the question is what do you call cheap and how much do you want?  A lot of the model shops (of the train/boat/tank variety) sell rod made by Albion Alloys in packs of 1-3m at varying prices (up to £6).  e.g. Wonderland Models have a 9ft pack for £5.25, whereas Hobby-Lines on e-Bay want the same for 5ft (I've used Wonderland in the past :)).

Don't know if that gives you any ideas?

While I am not very familiar with titans, I would suggest going for at least 2mm or maybe even a bit thicker brass rod, not sure how much weight the titan will be but I think 1mm might be too bendy to add a lot of structural support. Let's see if some titan owner passes by and can give better advice.

As for the foam, I would think XPS would be your best bet. It is relatively easy to work with (search Black Magic Craft or the Terrain Tutor on youtube, I think both of them have some videos talking about foam and xps as crafting material), and even if finding a 10cm thick block might not be possible, you can just glue together 2-3 layers of it (I think standard construction sheets are around 1 inch thick) and then cut them to fit the shape you need.

Looking forward to this diorama, it is a great scene to bring to (miniature) life!
