Completed for the aeldari forums 'the good, the bad, the aeldari', posting here because let's face it, traditionally xenos aren't everyones cup of tea! (And because i'm happy with them and wanted to share)

Similar colour scheme to their Red Scorpion space marine cousins, who it seems were based on the indian red scorpion i was using as a reference (grey body, yellow legs, red stinger)

Went a bit retro with the red weapons, not exactly 'stealth' but i think it works.. black was the alternate, and still might be a better choice but I won't go there now!

Tried a few new things on them, in particular the snow/ice bases (combo of these ikea 'kulort' and tamiya snow effect diorama paint) and using 'blood for the blood god' as a glaze over the dreadlocks

Looking great! I love seeing alternate temple colours for Aspect Warriors. I don't even own the current Aeldari Codex so I don't even know if they show variant colour schemes anymore. These Scorpions are fantastic.

Thanks all, it's nice to be painting more frequently again :)

I don't have any of the post 'aeldari' codices but I'm sure it ties in somehow, there are myriad craftworlds and temples/ shrines and there have always been variant aspect schemes throught the years. The great thing about this hobby is that any decision as simpler as colour choice can be post justified through alt fluff or the warp or something ;)

The scheme works great. Almost a bit of a feudal Japanese vibe to them.

I've always felt the aspect shrines had a samurai/kabuto mask feel to them, but none more so than these guys. I also went for a glossy black and red which is remaniscent of the lacquered samurai armour, it wasn't intentional but definitely brings the two concepts closer together.

I agree entirely  regarding colours for the Aspect Temples. Certain colours are traditional but it doesn't appear to be set in stone. I painted up some Scorpions long ago that had a brown colour scheme with the justification that the Temple focused on a desert scorpion of some sort. I still used some of the traditional colours as spot colours but it gave them a different appearance. My Swooping Hawks represented stormy skies or sunset colours. There's quite a bit of wiggle room in my opinion without them looking out of place.

What colour are the helmets in that picture? My eyes are telling me it's a really dark blue/green like Incubi Darkness but I can't tell for sure.

Wow your eyes do not checking one bit - that is indeed incubi darkness over Abaddon black :0

Funnily enough, if you see the original pre-vow photo, one of them was done in a brown/tan desert scheme because the only scorpions I've run into were mottled as such.. but I wanted to try something else. Great idea tho! ;)
