We know legends was clearly stated as not being updated at any point, but as well as them now being quite different to the new points structure, there are several units in there that are now in an odd place due to the changes to firstborn wounds. The ones that spring to mind are veterans on bikes and legion of the damned, both of which are now a wound down. It is most likely futile but I wondered If there was any merit in a community petition to ask GW to give the legends pdf one last glance to bring it in line with such a sweeping change before letting it rest. Conceivably a small amount of someone’s time could make these units valid for another edition. Thoughts? Rik Lightstar Posted October 25, 2020 Share Posted October 25, 2020 I'd suspect that IF they were going to do this at all it'd have to wait until ALL the Astartes factions have their Codex. We know that DeathGuard are coming soon but there's also Chaos, Thousand Sons and Grey Knights for sure to be brought in line. Otherwise you'll end up with weird things where Legends units get the boost before the stuff that's still in production. It will be getting a Warhammer Legends datasheet so that you can continue to use it in your games. Some of the units that will be left out of the new compendium are [Chaos] Space Marines. If we assume that those will be in line with their 9th edition peers, it seems reasonable to think that their Legends predecessors should be similarly in line. For this to pan out, though, GW-proper (not just the FW portion) would have to be on board, but it gives a glimmer of hope that we might see an update to the Legends. It would be effort from them, however they did just release a massive bunch of PDF's, some of which have a 1 month lifespan, I think 5 go out of date by Jan? I'd ask for the land raider excelsior back. It's still an in-production model, after all. Seems pointless to have a WHW exclusive model that has no usable rules.
